Just a couple of questions
Would you consider changing a 32A mcb to a 32A rcbo notifiable ?
If you take the cover off the CU and alter it (ie as above) do you then become responsible for the full board and have to test the lot ?
I have done some work in an integral garage, I added 3 downlights and a low level socket. The intentions are to make the back wall of the garage a utility room, with a sink, washer and dryer.. there will be a partitioned wall splitting the garage in 2.
I did this work as the garage was still a...
Hi Guys,
It has been my belief that all notifiable work, even if just a new spurred socket in a Kitchen had to have a Full Electrical Installation cert. During a telephone conversation today it was implied that something like this could still be done on a Minor Works Cert and still be...
Can some please clarify what is"notifiable" work i.e i know any work in a bathroom or outside is, but what else is? and what work can you get away with, without notifying building conrtol at all, if any?
Basicaly i am qualified just not registered with a part p Certification Scheme and have a...
Whilst waiting for assesment can you just take on all the jobs that come in and select one major and one minor for inspection or do you do just the 2 jobs and await assesment.

Hello All,
I was listening recently to the MK 17th edition podcast as I've got my 17th ed exam coming in the next few weeks.
They started to talk about notifiable work in a kitchen. They went on to saying that if the kitchen was an open plan type (like a kitchen/dining room), then the...
a friend of mine is having a shed/workshop built at the rear of his house. he asked me today if (with it being a workshop/shed/garage) do the sockets still have to comply with the positioning requirements of part P? or can he place them where he likes?
also what reference would i be looking...
I'd be grateful for some advice on the following. I am planning to install an external socket outlet on the outside wall of the kitchen, i was going to run a fused spur from the ring main (there is an existing internal socket in just the right place), however, the building regs state that...

Hi All,
I'm still working towards my C&G 2330 got my final level 3 and C&G 2382 exams in June.
Once qualified I'm looking at joining Elecsa.
However, I'm still not completely confident with regards to what is notifiable and what isn't.
For example, if you extend an existing circuit (not in a...
Hi All,
I'm not a member of niceic or suchlike (still doing last year of C&G 2330) and I'm doing the odd little job where notification to building control is not necessary.
However, I've been asked to put in some undercupboard lighting in a kitchen.
Essentially, I'm trying to establish if...
Okay. Deep breath.
Qualified electrician (C&G2381,2391), not a member of any competent person schemes because I only do one or two jobs per year (my day job isn't as an electrician)
I would like to use the local building control route for Part P work. As I am doing the work, only I can...
