Hello all,
I am trying to install three new light fixtures (hanging lantern type) that will hang from the ceiling of an outdoor covered porch.
The fixtures come with a cross bar that has preinstalled mounting screws with the threads pointing downwards. These threads are intended to go...
Good afternoon
I am planning an extension and outdoor electrics and I'm looking for some advice to plan ahead. Ultimately a qualified electrician will be doing the work, but as I'm not at that stage yet, I just want to plan roughly what we are doing rather than waste someones time planning and...
I am going to put a socket into some brickwork surrounding a BBQ area. Now all the external sockets I have seen are all surface ones about 3 inches deep this sort of skt.
Now I thought of using the type of socket one gets on the outside wall of a caravan like this which will sit more flush to...
Does anyone have a recommendation - preferably without needing a second mortgage - for some outdoor spotlights ?
I've tried a number of options and am getting a bit fed up with trying things and them not working out for various reasons. Most LED floodlights have ridiculously wide beam angles -...
Hi guys adding and outdoor socket for a hot tub just thinking should I come off the socket ring as there is a socket on the other side of the wall or would it be better to add fused spur and add the out door socket that way so it could be turned off and on ??
Hi all, looking for advice, based in the UK.
I have a 30m long garden with shed at bottom that I want to run an extension lead to on a permanent basis. Use is for power tools (drill, jigsaw) plus lamp in the winter so neither constant nor heavy usage.
Currently I run a single 40m reel...
Under my garage eave, I have 2 floodlights. They are hard wired to the wiring and have larger round casings.
I really want to remove one of these floodlights and replace it with a receptacle for a wifi camera. Ideally I'd be able to replace it with a USB port, but I guess I could always use an...
Hi all I'm in the process of finishing wiring in outdoor lights.
First thing is there was already lights outside the garage so I replaced these last year and add a light sensor. Which were feed from the lights mcb on the non rcd side of the board. Which have been working. Now I'm installing
2...
Hi
I'd like to install a 240 volt single phase sauna stove at a distance of about 200 ft from my main panel. The main panel has a 40 amp GFI breaker and an 8/3 exterior wire that goes into a sub panel in my workshop. The 8/3 is inside of a black 1" pvc 50 ft long flexible water pipe. I'd like...
Hi all,
Based in UK (not US although this is showing for some reason).
New here but have a few electrical projects planned.
Firstly, I have 2no outdoor lights served by a single switch (see attached photograph). I am doing the garden (new decking) and intend to add -
4no LED post lights -...
Hi, I’ve been asked to install some outdoor sockets and lights for a decking area where a hot tub is being put in.
There is a garage which has a 2.5mm armoured cable into a fused spur with the load side feed garage lights on a 3a fuse and the supply side feeding some garage sockets.
I was...
Good morning hope everyone is staying safe.
I have a question for some of the more experienced sparks, I have a client that wants her outdoor corner light replaced with a PIR and at the same time another light added above the door further along the wall.
She has bought an oval bulkhead light...
Morning all
Bit of advice please. I have a dedicated distribution circuit that was set up for a garage, that was never built, to the outside of my house. Its 6mm twin and CPC fed from a 32amp MCB. It now terminates into an outdoor double socket.
I want to extend the circuit and put some...
Hi all I’m new here.
I’ve just installed 25m of ip68 led strip lights round my garden. 8w per meter. They came on just a plug top. Installed it all then plugged in brilliant. Just what we wanted. Now I’ve cut the plug off and gone through a photocell. But now when they come on at dusk they...
Hi all
The subject says it all - there's a lot of outside exposed clipped t&e out there with all the attendant physical protection and UV issues.
Question is - should it have a fault code on a report? I guess it would be a C3 at most, but should it feature at all?
Cheers
i had an electrician out and they fitted a switched fused spur on to an existing double gang socket in my kitchen to run power out to my garage.
At a later date another electrician then ran another outdoor socket off of the double gang socket.
I'm now having some new patio doors installed and...
Bought this house in August 2019. Home inspector noted that the outdoor receptacles are connected to the GFI in one of the bathrooms. Not ideal, but both were working at the time. Over the winter, I replaced every receptacle and light switch in my home. It is legal in my town for the home owner...
As usual – I preface this with the fact that I will be engaging the work of an electrician to do this.. however, I like to get my head around the works beforehand. This will NOT be a DIY job – I’m nowhere near skilled enough to contemplate such a thing… but with that caveat in mind – humour me...
Hi All,
Appreciate some advice on an outdoor socket and lighting circuit please.
I currently have an outdoor socket on my house, that i believe to be a spur from a 32A ring. I would like to extend this out to decking for some lights and sockets, and onward to a shed for a couple of lights and...
