Hello,
I was just wondering if there are any rules governing where I can put an outside light in relation to my incoming meter supply cable. Can the supply for the light cross over the main supply cable? Do I need to keep the fitting a certain distance away?
thanks,
Simon.

Hello to all
Can a 'part pee" person replace a damaged twin and earth cable to an outside light on a stable block and issue a minor works certificate?
The cable outer sheath has cracked due to incorrect installation method and long term exposure to the elements.
Many thanks
Hi
Recently my grandad, who isn't a qualified electrician but has years of DIY experience and knows his stuff, has installed a security light on the front of the house. It's nothing special - just a lamp in waterproof casing with a PIR sensor bought from B&Q. He took a spur from a junction box...

What's the best type of cable to used for an outside light where the cable is going to be exposed for about 4-5 meters where it drops vertically to the light? They suggested a type of flex to me in CEF today, can't for the life of me remember the type but it was black with a rubbery kind of...

Hi Guy's,
I have a job to install some outside lights, but they all need to controlled by 2x sensors linked together as all lights need to come on when approached from either direction. There also needs to be an over-ride switch so that they can all be turned off/turned on/on sensor.
Anyone...

I need an outside light which comes on with a pir and when the customer wants the light on he can switch it on thus over riding the pir so it stays on. Can you buy it like this or does it have to be wired skipping the pir? Im thinking of a luminaire with the pir built in.
Cheers
Customer asked me to install some lights down their side access to the garden, it's pitch black as there is no street lighting nearby.
They have chosen some half lantern types with low energy flourscent type bulbs.
I installed it last week and now one of the neighbours are complaining about the...
Hi, i have been asked to install an outside light to a property, the customer just wants to plug it into a socket inside house - cable from socket to light will go straight through wall.
