Been reading various threads with regards to having an mcb that exceeds the cable rating thus only providing short circuit protection, what surprises me is the negative responses that are posted if it is ever suggested.
Now lets try put a translation on the regulation specifically 433-3-1 (ii)...
I'm probably going to get shot for this question, but when wiring a contactor/ overload does it matter wich side the supply is connected? I.E into the overload first or into the contactor and out through the overload?
I'm part qualified so you'll have to forgive my tiny brain...
12 x 50w Gu10s that have munched a couple of dimmers.(a silly load for a room that's abut 8 Msq)
I understand that with these halogens I may have to de rate the dimmer which would mean a 1200 watt dimmer (a bit pricy by the looks...

Hi guys, I was looking for a bit of help on wiring up a direct online starter with overload and stop start for an ancient bandsaw located in a workshop I'm working in. The band saw has a really old overload contactor intergrated into it. Basically the usuall 3 phases in and 3 phases out, but it...

Ok, so I'll put in a little background.
On nearly all the sites I look after, the overloads for just about all the smaller >75Kw motors are in a main panel in each sites main switch room. Not a problem until something trips out, it's usually operator error, overloading conveyors etc...

Hi,
I'm installing a 10.8 kw shower and looking at other forums everyone is saying 10mm is OK however i can't see how.
10800W/230V=47A
breaker size 50A
the only way it can be a 10mm is if its clipped direct with no insulation as it can take 64A however if it is any other reference then the...
Bear with me, I haven't seen the setup in question so I can only go on what I've been told........
We had a swimming pool pump that locked up after the bearing failed and then tripped the 63A/30mA rcd, presumably after the insulation had broken down. The pump runs through a contactor operated...
