Hi all! First things first, I'm not a qualified electrician but I consider myself competent and very safety conscious. I've been tinkering with electronics for a long time. But I need help :D
I've wired up my shed/workshop with 4 double sockets and a light fitting. Sockets are on 2.5mm cable...
Hi
I'm just wondering how to go about lengthening the cable to the bathroom light. The existing light cable has a spur coming from it that goes off to the fan. I want to lengthen it in order to drop the ceiling by about 300mm. Would this come under Part P and require notification even though...
With my NICEIC welcome letter there's a form in there for an ECS Part P application - doesn't have much information so wondering if anyone here can tell me what it means etc and whether they applied for it?
Hi guys, its seems everyone has differing opinions on this, including myself. From my research it seems pretty obvious that you can only carry out electrical work on somebodys house if you are part of a part p electrical scheme.
From reading the forums and speaking to local electricians it...
I currently have city and guilds level 2/3 2330. And I understand t that I'm not fully qualified yet for my gold card till I get my full nvq! Also I'm about to do my 17th edition and have been working as an improver/Mate for the last year. I'm pretty comfortable regarding 1st and 2nd fix of...
Hi there,

Hi I'm just looking for a bit of advice. I'm hoping to do my own jobs. I have my NVQ Level 3, am2, 17th edition and my ECS Card. I'm hoping to be classed on the competent scheme which my local building inspector asks for. What is the minimum I need to achieve to be able to do this. Thanks
On a site which use air source heat pumps for all the heating and HW. They have underfloor heating throughout and mixers. They have a "Specialist" connecting all cylinders, hot water tank, expansion valve etc to the unit outside. Now its a Sweedish System installed and the ufh firms bloke has...

Hi Forum
Struggling to get my head round interrupting the Building regulations
The building regulations 4(3) require that on completion of work in an existing building, the building should comply with the current building regulations, or if it did not comply before the work began, be no worse...
Since when have Elecsa stopped sending out certificates with a start and end date. An estate agent customer has asked if the open ended certificate is correct
Dear all, I've got my Competent Persons Scheme assessment with Stroma coming up and I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on what their hot topics are.
I'm flapping a bit because this will be the first time I've been through this as I've always worked with someone else.
Is this of any use at all or one to be avoided? I take it is not actually needed to join a competent persons scheme, I have nearly completed Level 3 2365 and have booked into a 17th Edition course exam.
Happy new year everyone!
Just a quick one, I've been offered to carry out annual PAT testing in a couple of local schools and a community centre..
I am to be Part P registered within the next couple of months and naturally I need to arrange adequate Public Liability beforehand..
Do I...
Hi everyone,
I have completed the City & Guilds 2365 Level 1,2 & 3 in electrical installation. I'm booked to take 17th edition exam in January. Now to become registered as a competent person do I also need Part P?
Thanks
Chris
Hey
Today I passed my 17th edition with the hope to start up my own business and after reading into part p got myself very confused. If I pay for a part p training courses would I still need to pay the £500 to niccela or other part p providers?
Part pI think it's time for me to get a part p. I am trying to move my plumbing business in the direction of heating engineering and certified electrical installations.
whats my options regarding part p courses? Is it still a cheeky 2 day course to be a domestic installer or has that changed?
my...
