We are rewiring a house. The neighbour's gas pipe passes, uninsulated, through the house due to what seems like a bit of suspect extension building last century. I feel that, as this is an extraneous conductive part, it should be bonded to the earth terminal of the installation (it is within...
I have recently come across a situation whereby instead of running a main equipotential bonding conductor from the MET to the incoming water someone had instead ran a short bond from the MET to some copper pipe in the mains cupboard and clamped it and then placed a bond on the pipe near the...
Hi,
As per title, I have a Van Guard 3m PVC Lined Aluminium Pipe Carrier for sale, in good condition, a few scratches but looks presentable, nothing more than usual.
ill be honest, I don't know why I bought it as I don't use it and it just sits in my garage.
collection only, sensible offers...
Doing an EICR of a large B&B place. Totally re-wired in 2008 so not a big issue as its well labelled and been done to a good standard.
Not sure on 1 bit though.
In the cellar, gas and water pipes are bonded fine. But it looks like the gas had been upgraded at the time of the refurb and the...
Hi guys, first post so please be nice, I'm currently installing a new kitchen and in the early stages of putting the electrics and plumbing in place before its plastered.
I have done everything else but I am unsure what the regs are on gas pipes(start my course on Monday), the consumer unit was...
Hi again, another one to wet your appetite. This has been seen on several different bollards around a particular caravan site. The site will be investigated at some point to establish exactly what is happening and why.
The Bollards have electric sockets, water meter + taps on them. Hopefully...
I am wanting to fit downlights into my ceiling, however having looked where I want to put them there is a main gas feed from the meter to the boiler running along the roof (along the side of a ceiling joint). Where I want the downlight (3 of them in a row) is along the same joist and hence right...
Hi, I understand according to 411.3.1.2, that main metalic services incomming must be bonded to MET. but what if the water pipe is shared from another property?
The premises has its own electrical supply, but the incoming water is not individual but shared.
I believe i should still Bond. Could...
Hi,
I see bonds like the one below from time to time, what was the point apart from ensuring that an installation fault to earth would give you quite a tingle?
Sent to a property where there had been a small fire! They have had a new 17th CU fitted a lighting rewire and all Bonding brought up to Regs.
I get a call saying the plumber has gone to connect the gas meter to the incoming pipe and a spark was seen.
I test between MET and incoming gas pipe and...

Hi,
As title says, I've got a Bsn Guard 3m lined pipe carrier VG400-3L, only ever had PVC in it, I'll be honest I don't really use it and not sure why I drive round with it on the top of my van.
Its in excellent condition, 6 months old, was £185 a few months ago, still looks new, still sells...
Hi,
Nice easy one, I have a gas pipe, its metal, but painted, no supply to properly, its just capped, but live.
As for bonding, what would you do? Just sand some paint off and bung a clamp on it? That's my thoughts, whats yours? I know you are meant to only put it supply side, but there isn't one.

I have recently done an EICR test on a flat. The only issue being that the water pipe is not bonded at the stop cock. The stop cock itself is located just outside the flat front door in a service cupboard - the trouble is the pipes are all plastic in the service cupboard and under the floor into...
