Hello all, be gentle I am newly qualified and this is my first post! I have a customer who cannot get their boiler serviced due to a 5 volt current on their gas pipe when the upstairs lighting circuit is energised. All the supplemental and equipotential bonding seems ok, tests are within limits...
Hi all.
I've got my Elecsa assessment on 3rd Jan and I'm using a new CU and partial rewire on my own house.
My question is this. My main water pipe (which is lead) enters the house under the floorboards. However all water pipes above the floorboards are plastic.
Would you say that the pipe...
I have just been informed by my electrician that we have to bond our gas pipe. The problem is that the gas meter is within a housing on the front external wall of my house and apparently he has to connect this back to my fuse box etc which at the farthest point on the rear of the house...
I have a CU change job and the water pipe supplying the house is lead. The lead enters the house then runs right under the house and into the kitchen where it is jointed to copper. The regs say bond where it enters the house (which is convieniently underneath the CU), but there appears to be...
When replacing a consumer unit. If the current rewireable board is only 80mm from gas pipe/meter can the new board be fitted there or does it have to be moved to comply with the minimum distance of 150mm.
Not possible to fit close if so and would need to be moved over a meter to find space...
Hi all. Can anyone tell me if it is acceptable to bond the gas pipe outside of the house rather than just after it enters? The problem is I have to bond a gas pipe- it was noted on a recent pir that it wasn't done, problem is it enters the house through the roof space of a two storey house...
My last job of the day today and I put a clip in to what I thought was the top of a skirting board. WRONG!
The hissing noise and the smell of gas convinced me otherwise!!!
Hello, new to this posting malarky. I've been asked to look at an installation that was never signed off by the council, I spoke to the building inspector and we agreed a course of action, however I have an issue that I can't find an answer for in the books (not to say that I haven't missed the...
Hi chaps
Just quoted for a job based on a spec which included earthing a metal oil pipe to a new rod at the plastic tank about 15 yards from the house.
The house is out in the sticks but pme. The pipe is not plastic coated that I could see so is there any reason for this? I would think this is...
Came across this where the diy customer decided to move his radiator here!
Any thoughts on PIR?
Don't have me regs to hand and cant recall a specific reg?
now im doing a pir on a large old building now because there are so many additions there are loads of plastic speed fit joints on copper pipe work now i am putting this down as not acceptable because there is no continuity on the pipe work.

am i right in saying this as it has never been...

am i right in saying this as it has never been picked...
If a metallic pipe work has push fit type fittings that dont provide electrical continuity what should be done
A=Leave it as it is
B=Increase the pipe size
C=Bridge with a brown bonding conductor
D=Bridge with a G/Y bonding conductor
I was thinking A ?
Thanks
Last one then i can get my self...
Been asked to quote for a CU replacement in an old rectory. First quick look (no time to do any yests yet) shows supply is from 2 separate cables from the other half of the house (house split into 2). Assumed the 10mm earth conductor that is installed on the CU led to an earth electrode but it...
Following the sad demise of my late Vivaro i have all the racking available as i'm going to be heading in a different direction racking wise for my next van.
Basically its a 'modified' Ex-BT BOTT setup. With internal ladder rack, storage boxes, shelving, safe etc. The Roof Bars are the full...
Can anyone tell me if you still require main earth bond to the incoming mains water. All the pipework and central heating is plastic (except 1m of copper from combi on water and central heating). The boiler is about 5m away from incomming mains. Also the mains is a minimum of 5m of plastic MDPE...
I need to upgrade tails to 25 mm but I have to negotiate a gas pipe. The pipe is 25 mm off the wall and is a plastic pipe inside an old metal pipe. The tails need to go over or under the pipe. ( current 16mm tails do just that )
What I would like to know is, do I need to give mechanical...
