Hi Guys & Girls,
I'm getting ready to rewire the kitchen and want to install engraved grid switches (Don't want an engraved cover plate), just looking to find out your opinions on best manufacturer and cheapest prices.
Cheers in advance
Hi,
I have just come across a Plate Switch mounted on the wall inside a bathroom to operate the ceiling light. Is there any alternative fitting to replace it (to conform with the reg) without resorting to installing a pull-cord switch? Any feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks!
i have read that the above plate is suitable for adding a hardwired cable of 4mm for the 6kw hob and 2nd cable to a separate socket for the plug in oven which is 2450w, 13amp. do i use 4mm cable from above easyfit plate to the 13amp socket.? help is appreciated. tony 2

Can you get anything that fits between a double-socket outlet and the pattress that covers up any do
dgy plaster / wallpaper around the socket?
Something like those panels that fit around a lightswitch to stop you gettin fingerprints on the walls.
On a new kitchen install the oven and hob are not specified yet and are therefore unknown to check MI. Most likely it will be a built under double oven, and a standard 4 ring ceramic hob.
Is it beneficial to install separate circuits to oven and hob, or a single cable to isolator, and dual...

Evening all
Just wasted the morning trying to replace some old white socket fronts with these great looking brushed nickel versions, but had to give up as the 25 mm backboxs were too shallow. Especially the sockets where someone has spured off twice. 4 X 2.5 T/E cables in 25 mm wont go.
I recon...

I am having trouble removing the front plate on a Newlec / Horstmann 425 Programmer. There is a backplate that has all the connections to it and a front plate with the timer control switches. I think it hinges or pushes into the connector on the back plate but am not sure. The later version...

Has anyone come across 1G or 2G blanking plates and surface-mount pattresses in white plastic which are easier to drill than the rather brittle plastic which seems to be the norm?

I have just replaced a spur in my kitchen (water had got into the previous one from a leaking washing machine in the flat upstairs) and all works well.
However, the thread on the back plate (embedded in tiles) has stripped and I can not get a tight fit. Are there any "tricks " that I could use...
Hi,
I have been asked by an elderly client to fit some nighttime light switch locators for some out buildings. Can anybody recommend a product that will work with a metal surface mount back box and switch? Ta Monky
Hi, help please.
I'm moving an electrical socket, only a few inches, and want to use the existing box as a connector/junction.
Is there a specific connection product, on a blanking plate, or should I use block connectors?
Or should I buy a junction box, and plaster over. In which case what...

Hi
ive read,or heard somewhere that safe plates are required to be 3mm in thickness to proved adequate mechanical protection to cables passing through joists at a depth less than 50mm,is this true?
Everywhere you look they seem to be around 1-2mm max.
Scolmore do a 45A dual connection plate. (http://www.scolmore.com/documents/switchtoclick.pdf) that has two output connectors.
The example photo shows thicker cable as the input, and two thinner cables on the outputs. Should the mcb be rated to protect the smaller cable, or can an over/hob be...
