Good Afternoon All,
I have just completed a Periodic test on a house and have a question about the meter tails.
The house is 14 years old so has 25mm meter tails. The CU is in the garage and the meter box is around 7m away on an external wall as you'd expect. Looking at it, I imagine that the...
IP65C
First number: 6 - dust tight
Second number: 5 - protection from water jets
Why is here additional letter "C". This letter C means - Against acces to hazardous part with Tool. But, the enclosure is already dust tight "6", the dust is smaller then tool, so why this letter C is needed?
Does anyone know if there is a product for protecting mains tails in walls apart from conduit?
In sure ive seen stainless steel capping or something similiar that can be earthed and is drill bit resistant?
Hi all,
Apologies for long post.
I have been asked to change two ceiling lights, an extractor fan and shaver socket in a bathroom, this is like for like but the shaver socket and lights would in the zones, therefore in my understanding it makes the job notifiable in England.
There is no RCD...
Hi all, looking for advice, based in the UK.
I have a 30m long garden with shed at bottom that I want to run an extension lead to on a permanent basis. Use is for power tools (drill, jigsaw) plus lamp in the winter so neither constant nor heavy usage.
Currently I run a single 40m reel...
I’ve had a disagreement with a colleague on this. Installation has 100ma rcd main switch.
Some circuits (5) on this side and further 4 on the
30ma rcd side.
what is the coding for this?
This month I'm building a remote lab for specialist chemistry work, in a self-contained 'Portacabin' type building.
The cabin will have a new, Hager 3 phase board, with an 30mA RCCD main switch. It's only a single small room so I'm not bothered about the possibility of the whole installation...
Can someone tell me when it became a requirement for sockets (domestic property, use by ordinary persons) to have RCD protection. Or rather, a flat completed (first sold) in Sep 2007, with no RCD protection for anything - would that have complied at the time.
I don't have any earlier regs. that...
Morning all.
Just a quick one.
I've put several sets of cameras in a retirement complex in what can euphemistically described as a rough area.
I've used Nylock to secure the connections. However, these are bungalows and I am worried about the short cables exposed before they enter the...
Hi, kind of follow on from my last post, but my boss hasn’t explained very well hoping you guys can
High Zs on circuit,
Can you reply on an RCD for fault protection?
He’s told me if the circuit is RCD then you can use that as fault protection, obviously you can’t meet disconnection times for...
If a 2 core swa was run for a submain to an outbuilding with no extraneous parts in it, but the zdb reading was well over the maximum earth fault loop impedance. Could an rcd time delay be installed at supply end to cover the submain ie increasing its new maximum zs reading?
Hope thats clear ?
Good morning,
I'm looking for answers to these two questions about Ireland ET101 standards, since I can't seem to find specific indication:
- Should the metal frame of a plasterboard wall /drywall positioned inside a room of a building be earthed as a main equipotential bonding?
- Wirings...
Hello,
As far as I can work out the Zappi car charger protects against PEN faults buy having a current sensing coil around the protective earth conductor and if a current is detected on the conductor it will disconnect the L, N and PE conductors.
just wondering how this meets the regs as in...
Excuse the probably stupid question!
I'm a bit out of date, so not yet up to speed on 18th edition.
Been prepping for a domestic board change, but am confused about whether I need an SPD or not.
Seeing as the majority of suppliers are selling their boards without the SPD, I'm assuming they're...
Hi there iam currently wiring a commercial pub kitchen was just wondering the degree of protection for enclosure like 3 phase isolators etc just for my own peice of mind thankyou
So i know the arc detection is made by a MCU.
The overload and overcurrent by a magnetic coil and bimetal.
But what about Overvoltage ? I only know it works for >270V.
Where fault protection is provided by an RCD, the product of the rated residual operating current (IΔn) in amperes
and the earth fault loop impedance in ohms shall not exceed 50 V.
