Hello
A little help here would be appreciated.
I often use a 230/110VAC 3kW isolation transformer for review testing computer power supplies on 110VAC at home. My problem is that every once in a while I plug the transformer in and the ring main 30A RCD trips out. It's not every time so I...
Hi guys,
I'm doing some revision for 2391 and I've built a test rig to practice on, just one radial (lights) and a ring.
The testing was all going fine until the IR tests.
Results were as follows
Whole installation:
R1 to Rn = 0.13MOhms:eek:
(R1+Rn) to R2 = >299MOhms
R1 to R2...
Can anyone give me a quick answer on whether or not the 16th Edition permitted the non-use of RCDs for additional protection?

About to fit new consumer unit in stable block. TT
Intention was to fit with 100A 300MA timedelay rcd incommer with split load on x 2 63A rcd's - one at 100MA for lights etc and one at 30MA for sockets.
Question is - supplier has supplied incorrect incommer which is now 100MA timedelay rcd. As...
Hi,

Can a (eg, MK BS4293 63A 30mA) RCD be used as a main switch in a CU if it's the ONLY source of switching for that CU? I'm about to start work on a CU with RCD-Breaker-Breaker-Breaker-etc-Main Switch-Breaker-Breaker-Breaker-etc.
I obviously need to add a new RCD for the second split but would...

Am wanting to put in a garage CU to divide up garden and garage lighting and power circuits. Currently power comes off kitchen ring that is already protected with a 30mA RCD. For sake of convienience to client, if mower trips RCD they can flick RCD back on at garage RCD rather than having to...

Hello everyone
I was wondering if it was possible in a TNCS system to add an RCD to a final circuit with a loop impedance exceeding the values stated in tables 41.2 - 41.3 to ensure fast enough disconnection during an earth fault. I had thought it was but if so why are RCBOs subject to the same...
Hi (first post)
Has anyone had trouble with Wylex RCDs?
Just installed a consumer unit and both my RCDs trip on power on but with all MCBs off and unable to reset them.
Never used Wylex before so can I asume both RCDs are faulty?
Will pop out and get some replacements, but thought I'd ask if...

Just wondered what everyones thoughts were on this hyperthetical situation which has been bugging me:
