Alright all, got a huge stockpile of old breakers and the like. Was wondering if anyone knew of any businesses that specialises in buying/selling of 3871s, 4293s etc.
Cheers
Has anyone else experienced other sparks going nuts for RCD's and thinking they are required for pretty much everything?
I recently did the installation at my local CEF branch and had another spark telling me I should have fitted a dual RCD board! I reminded him that the install was in trunking...
Hi All.
New to the forum and this is my first post.
Insulation resistance test on CUs with RCDs.
Do the test at 250V initially to check anything connected, then disconnecting/bypassing any current/voltage using equipment on the circuits.
When testing each circuit separately, disconnecting...
Anyone got any idea why [LG] washing machines with "Inverter technology" continually trip RCD's? LG insist that the fault is not theirs and that the machine I know of should be connected to a non-RCD supply to remedy the problem.
Given that most machines are in kitchens, ergo Special Locations...
I have just fixed a fault today on a 2 year old install where there was a 30mA RCD from the tails feeding to a remote twin 30mA RCD board feeding a 30mA RCD garage board in an outside office feeding another 30mA RCD garage board in another shed!
Discrimination whats that?
I did not test the...
Hi all. I hope it's not rude to post a question straight away ?
I've been living in Cambodia now for several years. There's recently been a lot of guys from the U.K coming over and setting up home.
The electrics here are sketchy but functional. Polarity is hit and miss, no earthing and...
I need to rectify a fault where an outside SPA hot tub is supplied through a length of 3 or 4 meters of buried armoured (shielded) cable and – when the MCB is closed – after 10 seconds the 30mA type A RCD above this MCB opens – and so does another in parallel with this on a separate UK style CU...
i have been asked to fit three phase board in a block of flats and the drawings state they want mcbs but i will have to rcd protect the circuits. is it just a case of using rcbos throughout cos this will be very costly and also i would want three circuits to trip together but i cant find three...
I have been in contact with my local AM about the need for a legal requirement for all rental properties to contain RCDs to protect against electric shock, she fully agrees with myself that this is a requirement which needs to be brought inline with the requirements that are imposed with Gas...
Hi Guys
Did a small job in a house - one additional socket. Then did an RCD test - x1 (240 mSec) and x5 failed miserably. did the test a couple more times. Some improvement but still failed. The RCD is an old Wylex WSES 80/2 so replacement means a new CU. Customer asked me to test it again - it...
I'm after a crabtree starbreaker D6 MCB.... any ideas please ? Tried a few wholesalers that I use with no joy
Cheers Sy
Not sure whats going on with the title of my post - "Dont you just love RCDs!!" (was a previous posts title) Should read "Crabtree Starbreaker MCB"
Greetings All , my first post ! I am not a Sparks but would really appreciate the wisdom of your Forum members.
I work in a modern University . Built about 5/6 years ago . Some of the Laboratory and Studio power circuits have had major modifications in the past two years i.e. post 2009 . (...
hey, i was rung today by my dad to come and look at a glasswasher that is causing the main RCD incomer to trip every time it trys to cycle.
This glasswasher is in a pub, over the last 2 days the landlady said every time she tried to cycle the dishwasher it tripped all her pumps out. The glass...
One of my regular Customers: a landlord, has had a letter today from his LA, stating that he must have RCDs in all his Rental houses.
Very limited information received, but I am waiting for a copy of said letter.
What I am wondering is is there a legal requirement to have RCDs installed into...
2 are in the board and the other is feeding that which is also being fed from a 100 amp rcd. cant seem to find any problems with cables and does just nuisance trip.
help plz
Two phases supplying two 2-pole RCDs in a consumer unit reconfigured as a small DB (with an external 3-pole main switch). Common Neutral.
In an outbuilding supplied by 10mm 4-core. TN-C-S ‘exported’ from main house by 10mm bonding. Local TT as an option in progress, awaiting tests before...
I understand that in an industrial setting if cables are surface mounted , SWA or in conduit then no RCD needed. If sockets are controlled by an on site electrician the no RCD. What happens if there are toilets on site with shower cubicles do all circuits, lighting , handriers etc have to be...
Today i took some rcd tripping tests.
Two of RCDs are already in use for many years, other two are new!
At first i took a test on a ABB 40A/0,03mA about 8-10 years old. It did not pass it anyway. Tripping Ampers was out of limit, i assume about 40mA.
Next test was about an old RCD (F-G permat)...
Okay, I know this has been discussed extensively elsewhere but I think this deserves another thread.
Seeing as we have generally come to a consensus that RCDs intended to provide ADS may still be being supplied from the LOAD side by the inverter, perhaps as much as 5s after the RCD has...
