Morning all,
I am just changing some light fittings in a shower and toilet block at a campsite and wondered the requirements for smoke alarms. It is an independent building with woman one side then men on the other. There are no smokes at present.
The building inspector wants smokes In Every habitable room! We only wired main escape routes and kitchen! We used 3 core to interlink! So we need extra smokes but ceilings plastered! Do the aico radio control smoke alarms have a termination point for a hard wired interlink cable? If so I...
This is a strange fault i have never come across and i am thinking the answer is to just replace the whole unit. I recently converted the lights in my nans hallway from a pendant to 4 downlights. Being a bungalow it only had one mains smoke alarm in the hallway with the feed taken from the...

Basically I want to install a new circuit for smoke alarm in a property, there is a old fuse board the one with they rewire able pull out fuses, so can I just take a supply from the lighting circuit from the fuse board?
Hello fellow sparks, how are we ?
I am slightly embarrassed about asking this but here goes,
I have never realy understood why you need a 3rd core when wiring smokes, live, neutal and earth i get, but why do you need a switch wire exactly,
what is its job ?

Hi Folks
Perhaps one you worldly types can succeed where our local sparky is flummoxed.
Our smoke alarm has been beeping every thirty seconds. We have two, both hard-wired to the electric and also with a 9v back up battery in each detector. We replaced the 9vs in both this morning and...

Hi all,
Looking for a bit of advice on this subject. Have gone through the electricians guide to fire alarms and the aico electrical contractors book and another book but am a bit confused.

Hi all!
Wondering if anyone can save us from our smoke alarm nightmare? We have a mains ionising smoke alarm, I'm not sure what the manufacturer or model is as there seems to be no branding on the alarm. The issue is that the alarm is intermittenly beeping, and intermitently means once an hour...
I am rewiring a domestic flat and part of the spec is to install magnetic door hold on the kitchen doors, this wouldn't normally be a problem for me but they must be wired in conjunction with the smoke/heat sensors. I'm just a little baffled how get them working so that incase of a fire the...
1-do mains operated smoke alarm and heat alarm have to be installed using fire proof cable or can the normal grey flat cable do the job?
2-got mains operated 2xsmoke alarm and 1xheat detector, why do smoke alarms come without battery back up but heat detector do come with battery back up?

Have 3 smoke alarms in a house which are supposed to be interlinked but are not. The red light flashes every minute or so. Would this be because they are not interlinked. Green light is constant and are all new alarms?
