I'd just like a quick bit of advice, we have two fused switches in our airing cupboard for the hot water cylinder, one main switch which comes on during the off-peak of our economy 7. The other which is for the immersion. We've stopped getting any hot water from the main off-peak part of...
Hi all,
I have a need to transmit a switched signal over about 200mtrs, I was looking at Easy switch that TLC do and have been successful with them in the past for garden lighting projects. Has anyone used something a bit more powerful as it is going to be used to send a fault signal to a plant...
Hi there,
I think this should be in the DIY section, but, it seems to be locked. I am no electrician.
I want to convert a large cupboard into a computer room, on the opposite of one wall is a light switch. the plan was to split the connection so one continues to go to the switch and another...
Just wondering whether there is a plug in tool to test the signal of t.v points? Something similar to sky signal finder but to plug into a standard point? Recently been installing a lot of points and the thought of lugging a customers t.v all around a house/block of flats seem ridiculous. Thanks.
When I use an electric blanket, and I have my feet on the blanket, and I am wearing headphones (which are plugged in), I hear an odd buzzing sound. The buzzing sound stops if I touch the wall or put my feet on the ground. Is current from the wires in the blanket passing through me or is this...
Ring main.
The ring has been disconnect in several places.
Across the two live conductors there is a resistance.
The neutral and earth are clear.
Considering the two live conductors go off in different direction this one is a mystery to me.

Had an IR fault on a newly installed lighting circuit today, 0.00ohms with continuity of 0.37 between neutral and earth, split the circuit down and down again until I find which room it's in, full of spotlights, keep splitting until I narrow it down to the last spot, disconnect spot fault...
I came across this today and thought I'd show you lot!
It might be something you guys see all the time but it looked old to me so I though you might like it, and someone is bound to be able to explain a little about it.
See if you can find it.. it's not the CU, Henley, meter or cut out...
You all have, at some time, worked with a Dipstick, or clueless boss, my story concerns just that, his name was Teflon because if things went pear shaped nothing stuck to him.
