was reading an article in PE today about split concentric cable and it got me thinking......
.....why am I not using this more often? it's much easier to work with!
i have a back boiler with a 2 port zone valve, pump, cyliner stat and 7 day digital programmer.
the problem is when the boiler is on it occassionally trips the boiler (about 4 times a week) not all the time.
i have replaced the zone vale, cylinder stat and the programmer and this still...
Hi Folks, I've had a strange and frustrating day today. Installed an MK split load Consumer unit to replace two rewireable fuse boards.
Earth system is TT 14.5 ohms PFC is 1.86 M ohms I've split the load over two 63A 30mA RCd's as follows (left to right from main switch):
Oven, Downstairs...
Please excuse my ignorance but what is a split load dual RCD,or a split board.
Don't slate me I'm based in Ireland.We use RCD's and RCBO's.
I'm just curious.
Hi.
I am in holidays at the campsite Camping Olhao in Algarve, Portugal and I have in my caravan an air conditioner that consumes about 9 Amps (220V). Unfortunately the electricity sockets available here for the campers are protected with circuit breakers of 6 Amps (220V) and that cannot be...
Hi all, this post is going back to a previous one by myself,
In short though after quoting to install a split load cu for a domestic property I also needed to incorporate a supply running upstairs to another CU in a self contained flat (loft conversion)!
In trying to prevent nucience tripping...
Hi guys ive just joined this forum so im hopeing for some help please
Ive just been asked to estimate a job basically to supply power to 15 new log cabins each requireing a 32a sp supply ,the existing park is supplied by a 3 wire split phase supply rated at 400A split also there is an existing...
Going to sign up for my part p next week - I have a lovely CU change in a small bungalow to do which I will submit for the inspection.
Going with Elecsa.
The small bungalow only has:
1 ring final
1 lighting circuit
1 shower
1 16a feed for the boiler
I'm just thinking that I can put in a...
Just thought I’d share some info on the Pv system at my house, click on this link to view My PV System.
The above link (fingers crossed it works) is to sunny portal where pretty much everything inc photo’s can be found, hopefully it will be of use to someone somwhere but much of it will probably...
I've got a consumer unit to change which is tight for space. It's a neighbours house and when I did my board at home I used an 8 way wylex and RCBOS, this worked out ok but it might be a bit dear for the customer compared to a dual RCD set up. The only issue is the customer had a burglar alarm...
Got a job im pricing and can fit 16 panels on 4KW but 8 on SE and 8 on SW, i could fit few more on SW but though it would be better to split evenly.
I was thinking maybe a 3600tl with 2 mppt but pv sol is giving me better readings just using an everaolar 4000tl with 1 mppt.
Do you think it...
hi there
need a little advice when you change a C.U that currently has only one lighting circuit covering the whole property( upstairs and down) this circuit would need to be split into 2 seperate circuits before beeing connected to the new CU is my thinking correct re reg 314??
I was discussing the wiring of split load twin RCD consumer units with a friend last night. I wire them with the largest MCB amps next to the RCD (first feed) then decreasing down to the smallest eg. 6 amps. He disagreed and said it should be the other way, smallest first. I tried to...
quoting for an east/west split on a hipped roof (oh joys!) so can only get 5 panels on each roof. After reading some of the previous posts I thought that the Aurora 3.0 would do the trick but the minimum voltage is 156v. Thinking about 250w Yingli (35.1v) so this doesn't leave a lot of leeway...
The PV "bug" is catching and a relative of mine is considering solar PV.
However, from a quick measure-up with them over the weekend, it looks as if they have two options. One seems crazy, but the "theoretical" numbers look slightly more attractive than the other more-logical option.
The roof...
Hi Guys looking for your thoughts.
Quoting for a job where there the roof I suggested putting 16 x 250w panels is facing 93 degrees east. The customer has had an alternative quote and the installer has suggested splitting system 8 panels east and 8 panels west. The customer asked for my...
On a new kitchen install the oven and hob are not specified yet and are therefore unknown to check MI. Most likely it will be a built under double oven, and a standard 4 ring ceramic hob.
Is it beneficial to install separate circuits to oven and hob, or a single cable to isolator, and dual...
came across this yesterday. called out to a park home to reported fault, RCD tripping with RFC fuse inserted. client was using socket outlet on cooker point to power fridge/freezer since night before. opened CU ( 6way wylex with 4 HRCs and 2 MCBs, 30mA standalone RCD front end). got out the...
Hi all
Hopefully somebody will be able to help out a confused idiot!
Visited a farm today which has recently had a supply upgrade from signle phase to split phase, thought I'd have a quick look at what had been done and noticed that they had bought the new supply cable in and added a new cut...
Looking to install 10 x 250w East facing and 6 x 250w West facing on one Sunny Boy inverter.
Originally was looking at splitting 9 east 7 West but was told that would not work.
A bit wary now - should the 10 East, 6 West split work OK?
thanks Chris
