Rewiring a house and moving db to utility room which is located under bathroom, system is a tns , i know if all circuits are on a rcd then supplementary bonding is not required, but i am running a swa around 6 metres in length from the meter box to the db this is not on a rcd... do i now require...
Hi all, im installing a new consumer unit in a bungalow , customer wanted it moving from bathroom to hallway. The system is a tns system and the meter tails are around 7 meters long, now because of this i have installed a 80 amp switch fuse inside the meter box and the tails run from this up the...
Hey all, I am trying to ascertain if I need to install supplementary bonding to existing old premises to upgrade while doing 2x CU's and some circuit jiggling ! Am I correct in thinking if reading with R2 wander lead clipped onto MET and me & MFT at say bathroom pipework get reading of sub 1,667...
I have a doubt, I'm searching the circuit of a bathroom and I've discovered a water pipe that has been repaired using a plastic connector. I know that is unsafely, but I'm not sure what to do. Thank you
I am a new trainee electrician and am I currently reading about supplementary bonding. I understand what it is and why it's used however I and confused as to why supplementary bonding conductors are not connected back to the main earthing terminal (met). Can someone please explain why this is...
Ok this has probably been covered before but still remains a grey area for a lot of sparks out there..
In a room containing a bath or shower reg 701.415.2 stipulates that local supplementary bonding shall be established connecting together the terminals of the protective conductor of each...
Just bought a load of testing stuff.
So I'm poking around my house with the intention of testing it at some stage to get some practice.
I've noticed there is no supplementary bonding in my bathroom.
There are no electrical appliances except a ceiling lamp.
Is it required ?
I realise this could...
Would you class this as adequate support bonding. 6mm cpc bonding all pipes together in bathroom then continues to the back of a socket outside the bath room. I was under the Impression that it had to be bonded to the electrical circuit in the bathroom
Hi,
a recent PIR has picked up no RCD protection and no supplemantry bonding to pipe work.
Am i correct in saying if all circuits to bathroom are protected by RCD then supplementary bonding is not required?
I wondered what you're thoughts were on this method of testing the supplementary bonding in a domestic installation. So disconnect the ten mill water bond at the board and connect one crock clip to it then connect the other crock clip to the cpc bar, Hey presto can anyone think of a reason why...
Hi,
My folks are just about to embark on installing a new kitchen and whilst i was round there last week i noticed that the main incoming water mains (lead pipe > copper) is not earth bonded back to the consumer unit. My Dad reckons it once was but had some work done 20 years or so ago where...
Hello all.
I'll start by saying i'm a diy'er, but have a lot of interest in electrics and have been reading up on some things.
One thing i am struggling with is supp bonding.
I understand it is there to limit touch voltages by keeping exposed parts at the same voltage but cannot get my head...
Can I ask a question.
We have had a new bathroom fitted and when they fitted it they removed all bonding from the bathroom including the 10mm to the shower.
When I asked about this the said it was not needed as protected by rcd.
Hi all
new to this forum but had a question regarding an EICR I have underway at the moment. It has so far failed miserably 50 C3's and about 10 C2's on day one of four.
My main query is this
it has metallic conduit fixed via self tappers into metallic walls and ceilings split into...
I have noticed recently on the forums various opinions on what does and doesn't warrant observation regarding bathroom bonding to previous 16th regulations,
Would be interested to gather opinion on the following scenario.....
2 Bed 6th floor flat wired in PVC singles through in-situ pvc conduit...
Could I have some clarification on this issue ,
the tight customer does not want a new CU ,
so the only option is supp bonding the bathroom , from what I've read is link the hot and cold copper pipes and the rad and that's it . Bs7671 does not require a link from the supp bond to a cpc on...
Hi
What happens when you guys are testing and you can't see if there is any supplementary bonding in the bathroom, and cannot see the clamps on any pipe work.
The shower is rcd protected but the lighting is not. Would you code it C2 for the bonding and C3 for the lighting not being on the RCD...
