I recall being taught that if you measure continuity between the MET and extraneous-conductive parts in a bathroom and, as a rule of thumb, it is either less than 1667 ohms or more than 1 M ohm, then you do not need supplementary equipotential bonding. I think I understand that the 1667 ohm...
8.5kw shower supplied by copper pipe......with plastic T where water supply branches to serve it, then back to copper. Any need to bond across the plastic T? Similar story with water supply to bath on hot and cold. All circuits RCD protected, shower itself earthed no problem.
Hi
I have been asked to install bonding to the stainless steel worktops and sinks in a commercial kitchen as the pub h&s lady says it is needed? Is this a regulation? There is only 100mA RCD protection not 30mA otherwise i would doubt the need
afternoon all!
doing a pir / ecr, whatever you wanna call it now, bonding readings ok on pipework coming from under floor, but not on sinktop or taps, only slightly higher but high enough to be above satisfactory.
what would you do, or recommend, or note?
thanks
My engineer wants me to fit a gas bond from a local distribution board in an office but as we know it should be direct from the MET. What if the distribution board is moved or removed? Needless to say i wont be putting my name to it. This isnt right is it?? How can i make the best of a bad...
Hi all.
I need some clarity on this please. 411.3.1.2 states efectively connected to the protective equipotential bonding. What is considered effective? Is this thru say the metallic pipework of the heating system ect...? Also what about a new build with all plastic pipework? I am on a new...
Have my part p assessment on a PV install shortly, im being assessed on the pv install only but of course have to make sure the earthing, main bonding and supplementary bonding is adequate but not sure where i stand with regards supplementary bonding in the bathroom.
Bathroom - radiator, taps...
Hi Folks, gas service engineer reported incorrect bonding to gas so customer calls me in to fix. Fixed that no worries. Explain earthing & bonding to customer; they say they've got sinks in every bedroom and ask me to have a look.
Scenario is CU is mechanically poor and needs replacing...
Hi folks, went to fix a nuisance tripping problem today (success). Earthing was arranged as TN-C-S with a TT rod. See pic.
The top GY cable is the main earth conductor which goes to MET in the consumer unit (although haven't taken any measurements yet). The lower GY cable is connection to...
On a TT system (protected by RCD's), 4mm earthing cable has been run to the cu.
I know regs indicate that supplementary bonding is not required for kitchens but did read somewhere that some kitchen fitters may want bonding available as they may simply follow manufacturers instruction (ie. for...
I'm looking at remedials from a PIR and one thing is a switch fuse with an 80 amp BS88 is serving a 16mm run of 2 core and armour SWA which serves 3 sub boards in 3 seperate outbuildings and they have been wired so they loop in and out at henley blocks until the final sub board. The total run is...
Hi Chaps...
Just after a bit of guidance please.
I'm so used of RCD everything these days that I install.
But would I be correct in thinking that if I'm carrying out an alteration on a bathroom circuit and no rcd protection is present, then I could install supplementary bonding to bring it...
Have a query regarding bonding for periodic.
1, Main protective bond for gas supply goes to the supply box outside the house, is this ok as would be difficult to connect it in the house close to the supply as it goes under the floor. If it is a problem what code ?
2, supplementary bonding...
Hi folks,
I am sure, installing Main & Supplementary Bonding is a major job and is notifiable. Could someone suggest what tests need doing and what certificate needs filling in.
Many thanks!
Does supplementary bonding on a boiler have to be a continuous piece of cable or can you cut it & use yellow crimped terminals? Yes it is eega and by NICEIC requirements...
cheers all...
hello guys, I'd just like you opinion as to whether I understand supplementary bonding.
To my mind supplementary bonding is additional protection to ensure that the voltage between extraneous and conductive parts does not exceed the safe voltage limit of 50. Therefore if you check between...
