Hi everyone,
I ask the above because I have recently moved to Australia and in the current development I live in (a newly built apartment block) I've noticed that as soon as I've used the shower and leave the showerroom switching off the light behind me, the fan also goes off. This is leading...

I need to wire a new system boiler, the obvious place to put the supply is with the control unit which powers the boiler. But should the FCU be next to the boiler in the same way any isolation switch would be located close the load. This would still power control unit, but also need cable coming...
Regulation 551.4.3.2.1 suggests that when supplying earthing for a switched alternative generator that fault protection should not rely upon the TN building supply earthing ie an earth electrode would need to be installed for the generator.
My question is should the electrode also be connected...
Good evening all,
Has anyone ever installed a fan like this before?
The issue I don't know the best way to overcome is that if I wire each bathrooms SL to the fan it will back feed and turn the lights on for both bathrooms.
The best I've come up with is 2x contactors - one SL to each input -...
Hi all,
Newbie here after some advice.
I’m in the process of replacing my landing light and when disconnecting the old one I noticed that the SW live was connected to neutral on the lamp and the circuit neutrals connected to live on the lamp.
I am aware that normally the SW live would go...
Hi, I was wondering why UK wall sockets with a switch are cheaper than those with no switch. This doesnt make any sense to me as surely the switched sockets should cost more as they have a mechanism.
Examples of this is:
MK 13A Unswitched Double Socket K781PPK | Wickes.co.uk -...
I am planning a new layout for our utility room and would appreciate some advice. We have three appliances (washer, dryer and freezer) that will sit under a worktop directly below the window. My intention is to feed this equipment via a row of three 13A fused spur switchplates located inside a...

i have a light fitting that 32volts across it when it is switched off. I have changed the switch, the rose, I've done insulation resistance on the cable to the switch, which is fine.
Not sure where the voltage is coming from and why only 32volts. I assuming that it must be cable insulation...
