Hi Everyone
Just a bit of advice please,if 2.5 t&e is rated at approx 27amps,depending on installation method etc, what is it rated when installed as a ring main, thanks in advance guys .
have any of you guys come across this before 6mm t&e tails this is the second time i've seen this in two weeks the one this morning was two x t&e tails (2 in the netral & 2 in the line), the customer with the 6mm t&e said that it has been like this for 20 years.
I was asked to look at a job today to give advice and maybe a price.
The job has been half done by a sparky who has gone awol.
A row of 4 houses new build.
The supply cables and cut outs have been installed, (by electricity supplier) but NO meters yet, in external enclosures. 100A fuses

Hi guys,
I can not decide to fail this or not:
6mm t&e in domestic environment, cables in mini trunking, on a 40a MCB
I would use 10mm of course, but am seeing this in many flats so is it acceptable or its a fail on the EICR?
Tank you!
I went to an interview for a 6 week wonder electrician course and they showed be some ratchet wire cutters that took the sheath off of T&E.
I didn't do the course as it was £5k but I've always wondered what the wire cutters were?
Any ideas?
Gents,
Can anybody advise me on the max CCC of 16mm2 T&E, 8 meters in length clipped direct. Its a sub-main to a consumer unit. Ran off the sub board is a 32amp ring, 2 x 6 amp lights, 2 x 20amp socket radials, 10 amp boiler supply and a 40amp shed supply and smoke detection(6amp).
Cheers
Any ideas on joining a 16mm T&E.
Its fed from a main switch up into a flat. Its mechanical sound just to short to reach new board. it needs to be joined under the floor.
But we are lost on best practice for this.
Hi everyone,
I've carried out a PIR today, and I'm not sure about what code this situation would be/what action is required?
There's a house on a private road which is shared with one neighbor, there's a public wooden post there too. They have run a T&E 2.5mm cable over head supported by...

Seen an install on a 3.9KW system with 2.5mm T&E but I have always used 6mm cable for a system that size and never gone below 4mm on any system. But the sparky said he was right and 2.5mm cable was right and if any one thought different they cant be a real sparky. I really want to clear this up...

Just had to quote for some 'MINOR' works in a 1980's extension to an old cottage.
The extension is PVC as you would expect but the main house is pre 62 rubber.
The property is owned by a sprightly widowed lady in her late 80's so I'm trying to be appropriate with my words, and I've agreed...
Hi all,
I am currently fixing up a room in my house and after removing some built in bookshelves found that that wiring for the single socket in the room was surface mounted on the walls.
Given I'm doing a fair amount of plastering in the room I would like to re-route the wires through my loft...
Hi, I've been working in a relatively new house (approx 5 years old) and the kitchen ring is wired with 2.5mm, twin and earth in which both the line and protective conductors are multistranded.
Is this OK to use? I've never come across it on 2.5mm cable and they have nuisance tripping on this...
Come across this twice now - what's everyone doing with this I'm advising my customer it should be a bigger cable but it the old well it seems to work ok
