If faced with a Domestic Final CCT (Lighting or S/O) and it has 2 sizes of T&E used, lets say a lighting CCT with 1.0mm used on some lights and 1.5mm used on other lights and if Zs & IR all complies - When writing out the Schedule of Test Results, what size Wiring conductor should be noted in...
Fitted some sockets on a wall yesterday but had an utter nightmare with normal T&E clips and trying to get them to hold in the wall. Both the mortar and bricks were too crumbly to hold the nail and I ended up using loads of clips, which didn't look good at all but the customer was happy with the...
Hi all
I would really appreciate advice on where to connect the cables in my ceiling rose pendant set. I have always had no problem changing a light fitting/ceiling rose in other rooms around the flat as only one neutrel and one live wire to connect.
In my kitchen it's the first time I need to...
Evening all,
Sorry to bother you guys with possibly a very simple question but something I've never been clear on is why the csa of the cpc in twin and earth is smaller.
I've just started my electrical career and my fellow colleagues argued over the reasoning when I asked them!
Any info to...
Hi Guys,
I've been asked to do a surface mounted ring mains in a residential property, is it normal practice to leave the wires loose in the conduit or would you tie wrap them together or use something else? Thanks in advance from a newbee
I've been asked to wire some lights on the back of a house. channels have already been cut for cable to be rendered over at a later date.
Is this ok in T&E or should I use something else.
Doing up a workshop with offices out the back.
The supply is in the offices, as far as you can get from the workshop.
There is now a change of use in the workshop, and there will be some quite hefty stuff moved around.
In the workshop area all the current electrics are in T&E clipped direct...
When running surface mount T&E in offices and shops I have been in the habit of running it in conduit or mini trunking for the added protection.
Working along side another spark who asked why I bothered, he just clips direct along walls etc.
I realised that I could not remember why I started...

Are 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5mm2 T&E cable extensions, made by longitudinal twisting, generous soldering, shrink-fitting of each conductor, taping to match the sheath overall thickness, then overwrapping with two layers of shrink fit (all done nicely!) ‘maintenance-free’ joints and hence able to be...

Hi Guys,
We sell alot of T&E and we get it from a variety of suppliers but I'm not sure if I should carry the boxed stuff or the original rolls. It doesn't matter to me but its what the customer wants.
Which do you prefer? Or which would you buy if you had the option?
For integrated / fixed appliances, having a fused switch spur can you then run t&e to a ko box behind the appliance and connect the flex to t&e via a terminal block? covering with a blanking plate.
Is there a reference method for just clipping T&E to a wall - Not enclosed in conduit / trunking but just clipped. Or is this a frowned upon method and shouldn't be done.
Just having a discussion and this question come up.
Answers on a postcard job :)
Hi guys,
The above is due to there being 2 existing units.
Would the best thing to do be to terminate all in an adaptable box then onto the new CU?
Cheers
Nick
