Does 17th ed say I can wire a school in T&E? In the states you cant.
Can I wire a school in metal clad flex? In the states you can.
If none of the above are allowed, we will do it in EMT
which I believe you call thin wall. No, its not going to be done in Rigid. theres gotta be a better way...
Struck me recently as to why we use 6mm T&E for a 32A cooker circuit, when generally 4mm (clipped direct) would be sufficient. Is this a historical thing with BS3036 fuses?
Cab anyone help me with a reference method for T&E running under the floor in a domestic situation?
Also, I assume that the reference method applies to the method that describes/applies to the longest section of the run. I have a 1mm cable running on the surface (1 metre) from the CU, then...
Hello all.
I have goggled filling T&E with plaster and there are a lot of responses saying plaster will corrode the cable?
Is this just a myth? Will I be ok to just clip the cables then plaster over myself!
I might have 50mtrs of 10mm T&E for sale brand new still sealed, depending on price,
I may keep hold of it for future use.

As above, I have a plumber who's changed the water heater on a finished garage annex that we've been doing. The original one was 1.2kw in a bathroom undersink unit. There is an electric rointe 750w towel rail aswell so I put the two on the same circuit to save ways in the new board. He now wants...
Iv just been to look at a job in a cafe, the customer needs a cooker circuit and a radial adding the the installation, the 3 phase D-board is in the same room as where the two extra circuits will be.
All the circuits tht are already in this room, radial for boiler and radial sockets feeding...
Quick question. I was adding a 2 way switch to a lighting circuit and discovered a T&E where only one wire was used. he second had just been cut off and not used. I always connect unused cores to the CPC and sleeve green/yellow. Is this common practice or just me?
I have recently found some stranded, tinned copper 2.5 T&E on a few inspections that I have been carrying out. As the form asks for the estimated age of the installation, I was wondering if anybody knows when this kind of cable was last widely in use.
Thanks chaps
Hi guys. When and for how long was 2.5mm T&E produced with a 1mm CPC? And why?? I'm at a house which uses this stuff (all with white sheath) all over the place. One ring circuit uses this for one leg but 2.5 with 1.5 for other leg.

Hi Everyone
Just a bit of advice please,if 2.5 t&e is rated at approx 27amps,depending on installation method etc, what is it rated when installed as a ring main, thanks in advance guys .
have any of you guys come across this before 6mm t&e tails this is the second time i've seen this in two weeks the one this morning was two x t&e tails (2 in the netral & 2 in the line), the customer with the 6mm t&e said that it has been like this for 20 years.
I was asked to look at a job today to give advice and maybe a price.
The job has been half done by a sparky who has gone awol.
A row of 4 houses new build.
The supply cables and cut outs have been installed, (by electricity supplier) but NO meters yet, in external enclosures. 100A fuses
The...
Hi guys,
I can not decide to fail this or not:
6mm t&e in domestic environment, cables in mini trunking, on a 40a MCB
I would use 10mm of course, but am seeing this in many flats so is it acceptable or its a fail on the EICR?
Tank you!
Gents,
Can anybody advise me on the max CCC of 16mm2 T&E, 8 meters in length clipped direct. Its a sub-main to a consumer unit. Ran off the sub board is a 32amp ring, 2 x 6 amp lights, 2 x 20amp socket radials, 10 amp boiler supply and a 40amp shed supply and smoke detection(6amp).
Cheers
Any ideas on joining a 16mm T&E.
Its fed from a main switch up into a flat. Its mechanical sound just to short to reach new board. it needs to be joined under the floor.
But we are lost on best practice for this.
