Is there a time limit this has to be done in? Basically I did a bit of work for someone who was building a new house but not all of it, it was finished by a relation of his, unfortunately I didn't know at the time he's a bad payer! He's now been living in this house for 6 months and whenever I...
A client is asking about fwt and they want 20% done each year, the building is now 5 years old, where in the regs does it state that 20% testing is allowed, as the grey area is the last 20% would then be 9 years out of date and not 5.
Hi there,
I was testing the supply of a fridge with a voltage indicator.
I tested the incoming suppy which was fine but when I tested the terminals on the compressor it tripped out the mcb.
Why would this happen if Im using a voltage indicator and not shorting anything out as such?
Thanks

Hi there was wondering if a PAT with barcode scanner is any use on items that already have barcodes.
Does it depend on what tester was used in previous tests carried out by another company??
Hi all,
Today i came across a bit of a problem and to be honest not sure where i stand.
Was called to go and look at a small job, to add a couple of extra sockets to a kitchen. Nice and easy surface mount. When i looked at the c.u it had been installed april this year, so i thought great rcd...

Hi
OK, got an extention lead thats shot (not mine) With only a Fluke 1651 NOT a pat tester I have 96 volts between CPC and phase yet an IR test shows >500 M ohms. ? How would you test?
Kind Regards
David
I have just tested a ring and the IR reading between N & E was 0.00 M Ω, N & L was 0.13 M Ω and L & E was 0.14 M Ω. I have removed all the loads and tested with a Fluke at 250 Volts. Plz could someone point me in the right direction to locate the fault.
Further more the Ze was 0.08 and...

Hello All
We've been asked to test quite a large Corn Starage/Drying plant. The installation was put in in 1979 and has never been tested since. We have all the blueprint drawings, but cables are not marked at each end (i.e control panel and isolator).
When I've been round other sites...

I have been testing an installation with lot of RCBOs recently and found that a significant proportion of them will pass at 30mA fail at 5X30mA.
SO FAR:
Tests have been repeated several times over a year and the same ones fail at 150ms but pass at 30ms,
Most other RCBS pass without problem...

Have been doing a CU change today.
Anyone come across high RCD readings before?
I had a 310ms trip time on the 1x 0~ of my RCD trip times. All other readings RCD at 1x 180~ and 5x, ZS, Ze, R1+R2 spot on and good readings.
There are two known extras with this circuit that I might add, firstly...

Hi,
A puzzling issue today.
When I test for Ze and Zs on my Fluke I tend to go for the 'no trip' setting out of habit. I believe whether there's a RCD or not this test might take a little longer to get the reading (as it saturates the RCD with a DC current) but it's the same result as the...
