Have been doing a CU change today.
Anyone come across high RCD readings before?
I had a 310ms trip time on the 1x 0~ of my RCD trip times. All other readings RCD at 1x 180~ and 5x, ZS, Ze, R1+R2 spot on and good readings.
There are two known extras with this circuit that I might add, firstly...
installed a new cu for some one yesterday, its a tt system incoming voltage 240v and incoming earth from spike 100ohms, all the circuits tested fine every thing works as it should!

Hi,
A puzzling issue today.
When I test for Ze and Zs on my Fluke I tend to go for the 'no trip' setting out of habit. I believe whether there's a RCD or not this test might take a little longer to get the reading (as it saturates the RCD with a DC current) but it's the same result as the...
questions!!!!

Hi,How does everyone fill out the certs for a split load board to include the RCDS if issuing a DOMESTIC ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATE?
How do you include the details of the split loads and the submain RCD characteristics into the boxes provided?

Evening All,
When filing out a EIC test schedule I test all circuits that have RCD protection individually ?.I have a split load board and as such each RCD controls a number of circuits.Do I have to test each circuit and record each value 1x and 5x and do 180 degrees. So if i have 5 circuits...
Hi Guys

Hi
I've recently had a new rcd fitted to my very old consumer unit( the old fuse wire type ) after the sparky tested the old one and said its not working.
After one week of being fitted it has tripped a number of times.
sometimes once per day sometimes more or even a full day being ok!
He came...
Visited a property today that has an intermittent earth fault. RCD trips sometimes 3 times a week sometimes once a month but it's been going on for some time now and owner wants it sorted.
IR'ed across N/E and L/E and all ok until the boiler is switched into circuit. Then the L/E values dip to...
Does anyone know if cold weather can affect RCD's, I have just been testing the 63A 30mA RCD in the garage, this previously tested absolutely fine when doing the test at 30mA, but now it fails to trip in under 400ms, however when doing the 5x test it is fine , the test button works...

Folks,
Tested an RCBO today on a 16A 2.5mm spur......the 1 time was 18.7ms and the 5 time was 39ms. You'd normally expect the 5 time to be quicker/lower yes?
( 1 ) What would cuase a consumer unit, with RCBOs installed, to all trip out at virtually the same time, at about 7am every morning, but at no other time ?
It's a TT earthing system, with overhead supply cables linking the house to the pylon in the street. Then two cloth covered live tails...
