I'm looking at buying my first multi function tester and I've seen many threads where people recommend the usual (megger) but I was wondering if they all do the same thing what is the point in spending £1000 and double the price when there are compatible testers for less than £500.
Am I missing...
Kewtech are at the later stages of designing the new MFT, like all the others will be made by Kyoritsu.
The new one will be largely based on this https://www.kew-ltd.co.jp/en/products/detail/01193/
Looks bold and different. from my point of view it will be essential as so many chargers now have...
Is there a 230v 3 pin commando polarity tester that is a reasonable price? I have seen the Martindale one at £45.00
Ideally i would like one about £15.00 /£ 20.00.
I am just fixing a socket outside for my camper van to keep the topped up in the winter. The solar panels are ok for the summer.

Hi. We have a circuit where some of the sockets have a dangerously high earth loop impedance. This was identified by a professional electrician. I was thinking of rewiring this, as a DIY project.
For safety, I want to ensure the replacement is done to spec. Buying a multifunction tester seems...
I have an SWA cable running from the CU to the garden that the previous owners had fitted, but no longer worked when I moved in a few years ago, that I want to reinstate.
The cable itself runs from the kitchen where the CU is and is then buried under the floor, under the utility room and shower...
Idly browsing fleabay and I ran across this:
I know standards were once rather laxer, but surely this was never an actual manufactured product? More like some maniac in a shed cackling as he put it together?
Brass may be less conductive than copper, but even so (not sure I'd trust to there...
Toolstation have this socket tester for sale TIS Socket Tester With Loop & RCD Check - https://www.toolstation.com/tis-socket-tester-with-loop-rcd-check/p51520

Hi all,
I am new to the forum.
I am currently looking to buy my first multifunctional tester, I have looked at many from seaward to fluke but I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
Also, has anyone ever purchased a second hand one? Is there anything to look out for when buying...
Hi lads,
I have a Megger 1552. I didn't really use it in the last couple of years. I was planning to get more into testing again, so sent it for calibration.
Unfortunately, it failed. I was told it requires a new side socket where the test leads plug into the tester. As the tester is old...
I have tenants that have 3 fairly new small a/c units all the same and when any of them are turned on my tester reads hot & neutral reversed. The 15 amp circuit that feeds these units has no ground wire. Is this normal or could these a/c units be wired wrong from the factory?

Hi all, new to this forum and could do with some advice re Pat Testing.
As the new law relating to EICR's to the private rented sector is coming up, I'm getting calls from my clients about the inspections but now they are also starting to enquire about having PAT testing done. I'm fully...
Hello,
I have a dedicated loop tester (Martindale EZ2500) and also a Fluke 1662 MFT
The reason I have the additional loop tester is often at work I will need to measure P-E & P-N loop impedance only while I am in a harness climbing, or have walked for ages (large concert touring) the EZ2500...
Hi guys
I’m starting out on my own, whilst still in employment (I do shift work, so working around that). I’ve been looking at dozens of multifunction testers and the Martindale ET4500 really stands out to me, it’s got great features and at a good price. There’s not many reviews on it though...
Have had a Megger PAT4/DV3 for about 10 years and about to replace with a new tester. It cost me about £1K back then. Looking at buying a
Martindale EasyPAT 1600 PAT for £600 ish. It sounds like it will do all we need, but can't find any reviews.
Anyone have experience of these, and can give a...
Hi Guys,
Completed an EV charging course a few months back. Looking to explore that growing corner of the market. My Megger 1720 multi function tester packed up recently. Always pretty happy with my Megger, but I'm looking to get a tester that has integrated EV testing and comes with its own EV...
There's a lot of different PAT testing machines out there from £300 to close to £3000, I'm not going planning to do a lot of PAT testing but I think it is a good service to be able to offer, any reccommendations for any particular reason?
thank you very much
I have a Martindale VT12 voltage tester which is OK, but very quickly I discovered the continuity function is a right PITA. Test for volts on the neutral and it lights up and squeals at you!
Takes a moment to realise it is the continuity LED that has lit, and the squeal is slightly different...
