Hi,

Hi Guys,
This is my situation:

Original building had two electrical supplies:

hi
Wonder if anyone could give me a bit of advice. I have taken out my old fluorescent lights from under my cabinets and I'm replacing them with low wattage led strip lights. I have 2 in total. I have my mains supply cable which comes from my Light Switch and this cable runs to under my first...

The floor of the kitchen will be filled up with:
1) Concrete, on top of which will go
2) insulation with pipework for wet underfloor heating system, on top of which will go
3) screed.
Can the armoured cable run under the concrete base or does it always need to go above concrete base and under...

Browsing the screwfix page for some drill bits, came across this sds drill for 30 quid. Made me wonder if its actually any good? If you have a simple job and need something quick it might do the trcick. Likewise if you need to put a fan in and need to core a hole.
Anybody got one? Interested to...
Ok so as I am moving VERY soon I have packed and sealed all my electrical books away. I don't have access to regs consequently. I am racking my brains regards risk assessment for omission of RCD on sockets. If you read the fine print it references a statutory instrument regards the standard this...
Hi,
Complete laymen to the electrical world so need some advice.
We had a complete rewire done in 2016 and as part of this we had an RCBO unit put in. Today we have had an issue where there has been a loose connection and the board needs replacing. This is being done under our house cover but...
Afternoon all,
On an extension job, customer wants a cable run to a pond which is 70m from the house, for oxygenation and some lights.
There are quite a bit of groundworks going in including all the drains which will be running downhill to said pond and are being dug currently.
Builders want...
Hi!
I'm new to the forum - thanks for having me.
I have a question for a domestic rewire - I just bought my first property and want to know the prefered method for a rewire and if it really matters or is a personal preference.
I'm going to rip down the thin chipboard ceiling and have it...
So Ze=0.02 and R1+R2 = 0.73 on a first floor ring main.
Nearest submain is about 35m away, so that Ze's plausible, and even a slightly indirect route makes Ze=0.03 realistic. So MCBs are going to need changing to Type Cs.
Unfortunately for that first floor ring R1+R2 of 0.73 is too high for a...
Exposed by recent gas mains replacement, Also exposed were the old tram lines. The cable looks all armour and no conductors?
Could it possibly be an part of an "earthing system" for the tram tracks/lines?
I have to get a kitchen extractor and shower room extractor vented outside.
They are back to back to each other on the ground floor.
There are no external walls that lead to the outside.
I can run the ducting under the floorboards between the same joist (both extractors) all the way to the...
Hi,
Hope someone can help.
We currently have under cabinet lighting installed in our kitchen (by the developers when buying the new build). Keen to extend this lighting to above the cabinets, there are additional unused connections available in the current electrical supply. Struggling to...

Hi, thanks in advance for any advice.
I had our kitchen redone a year or so ago, and at that time hadn't got in the under-cabinet lights, so the fitter left some terminated wiring to allow me to connect later. I just wanted to check what was in the realms of sensibleness before I installed...

It’s not somthing I have done before Or even seen done so I was just wondering if it’s a tricky job.
I was thinking I could do the job...
