    Table 53.4 shows that plugs and unswitched socket outlets can be used as devices for isolation while carrying load current!. Functional switching can also be carried out in this way as well. Is this really a safe procedure? Am I interpreting this table incorrectly. Thanks Jonel

    How it used to be done!

    Here is a pic of a relay from a Grinder/Lathe which is 80+ yrs old, still operating as good as the day it was made. Note the glass enveloped mercury switching contacts. PS the lamp at the bottom is just a spare for use elsewhere on the machine.

    Is it against the regs to use and RCD as a main switch ? I have been told it is but Im struggling to see anything that confirms so. Im looking at 314.1 in the regs book but that doesn't say anything about an RCD being used as a main. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    I recieved Culina track lighting today and don't feel it is safe to install. I have shown the manufacturers instructions with a detail from the page which seems to only refer to the track lighting. Not the light fittings that I ordered.
