My mate who I went to college with has recently moved back to Lithuania and sent over some photos of the old Soviet Union era wiring.
Line & Neutral, no CPC and the Conductors aren’t identifiable. The cores are aluminium. No Consumer Unit inside the flat, just a 3 pole MCB in the big Meter box...
Just asking more for my own curiosity if that's okay. When running say cable when both wires are the same colour sleeve, say dual blue or brown, and there is no power in the circuit yet, how do electricians know which wire is which at each end?!
Thanks and apologies for the possibly annoying...
Hi All, I am trying to repair a Elu Dropsaw for my Father. I am wondering if the controller that is original can be deleted and a standard safety on/off switch wired in? The "Solenoid" that`s in it is a) in Germany and b) too expensive.
I have attached photo`s for your evaluation.
Thank you for...

Have a bakery with some metalclad sockets and spurs that are covered in mank but plastic flap outdoor sockets would get smashed up
Hi, been given the task of installing a second hand radial arm saw in a workshop. Unfortunately the control panel is not there. This is what I have to connect, I assume there needs to be a starter & overload.
Thinner wires go to switch on saw but no clue of the actual connections if anyone has...
I want to wiring in some new lights in an old shed I have. There’s an existing light switch for the toilet that powers a light, a fan and fan isolator, and it works fine. The shed can be dark in winter and I want to put a couple of lights in it with a switched light for the outside, and a light...

Hello everyone.
I’m looking at installing a camera on my garage. The garage has a 16A breaker for the sockets and 6A for lighting.
Am I able to use some 1mm twin and earth to wire the camera straight into the 6A with the lighting?
Thanks
Ryan

Hi All -
I have a new-to-me boat and I'm trying to better understand the electrical system. I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum, but it's a French built boat using all Hager MCBs and switches. None of this stuff exists in the U.S., afaik.
I'm not on the boat at the moment to test but from...

In Figure 1, the wiring diagram shows that the cables of the thermostat should be connected from the top, but in actual wiring (Figure 2), they are connected from the bottom. What I mean is that there are two rows of terminals (one at the top and one at the bottom), and the terminals at the...
