Discuss 100ma or 30ma?????????? in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

so are you saying that theres no need for 100ma rcd in this TT system?????? (wirepuller)

as others are saying differently, confused again????

I have an 100 m/amp s type in the store and it has limited use nowadays for domestics
You wont go far wrong with the advise wirepuller gave you,

i tend to agree with you, so putting in a 100ma rcd is totally pointless realy, why bother, years ago the main rcd 100ma was there to protect all the outgoing circuits, with the 30ma rcd's in place or rcbo's the protection is there. FEEL less confused now--i think :D:D

Some good points made, I will still continue to use a 100mA on an incomer on TT services, though. One reason being neutral can be lost a lot easier on an aerial incomer than a buried one, and we are generally more likely to see more faults.

EDIT: and 30mA RCDS (all RCDs in fact) can fail. I like the back-up is what I'm saying.

if all circuits are protected by 30ma and tails dont require any additional protection then why bother with the 100ma? (although this may be good practice by some elctricians (the really good ones ) it is not a requirement.
