Im going to be doing a consumer unit change. There is already 10mm boding to gas and water pipes. However the customer has has some renovation work done to the plumbing.

So it starts off copper and then goes to plastic and then goes back to copper. Am i right in thinking i need to take a seperate 10mm bond to each copper pipe?? or??

Now if i come accross as being a little too blunt in my posts at times, you could well be right, and for that i will and do appologise.
That is correct but the apology counts:thumbsup

However they are not composed with intent or inferred intent to offend!!!
Reading your posts it does sound like you may be bit of a erm... Grumpy old man? lol

How can you be? Those cocktails in Cyprus did the job for me when I was there ;)

Deep breaths everyone :D

E54: You wouldn't know that, unless you tested it. Depends on building construction and many other things. So you wouldn't even consider bridging that short gap in the copper work then ??

Conversely, you would bridge the gap without testing then?

it is true e54 , you were a bit mocking , when i pointed this out , you chose to ignore that post , why is that? because you have to agree maybe, that your posts were designed to make you look smart and make me look dumb, when in fact i was not wrong . its fine to be right, wrong or have different views.

If it was that close to the main bond, yes i think i would be inclined to do so to be honest, but will still test as a matter of course. I wouldn't call such a tiny gap supplementary bonding, (though many here would) but rather maintaining a system integrity. To be honest we shouldn't be left in these situations by plumbers....

morph,

As for me trying to belittle you, ...i'm sorry you feel that way, it was certainly not my intention and certainly not designed to make me look smart. I did get a little miffed (if you can call it that) that you implied that you wouldn't even bother to test the other side of the plastic pipe, but that's about it....
I agree with you completly that we all have, or can have different views on any particular subject, i've received far worse commentary on some of my opinions and views than i've written on this thread. I let them fly straight over my head. If i've offended you morph, i again appologise.

went to my brothers and gave it a PIR and the 10mm bonding was not connected after the stopcock and before branchwork

the reason for this is after stopcock there is 1 cm copper then a water filter then a 1 cm copper pipe at the other side then a T plastic fitting the 10mm bonding is connected after the branchwork and on the on the pipe that supplies the sink so does not comply only way i can see of rectifying this is to fit a longer piece of piping after the stopcock and before the the water filter to say the copper piping and push fittings looks dog rough is a understatemnet

it should either all be done in plastic or copper and brass as both is a bodge
If it was upto me i would have it all ripped out and done in copper but he paid a fortune for this mess
the wiring they did well thats worse than the bonding

Im not getting into any arguments here i agree with wirepuller and en 54,

i was pulled up about my main bond being after a junction , ,i asked the assesor if he was joking , as below the joint was a nut on a conex joint how he expected me to bond to that ill never know

As the cable itself has had the cpc cut off at both ends I would enter a C3 as it doesn't offer any protection within the cable if accidentally...
