I was amazed when told about this

Bronze: Domestic Installer Course

You even get to pass the test and inspect course.

is this really possible starting with no knowledge

Christ this really is belittling our trade. Now I know why I make a good living of sorting out bodge jobs.

Well to give you all some light that works lol I have am2 this week coming and have 2391 pat testing and em lights certificates and over the 4 years it cost me for all my training around ÂŁ2000 all in .. And I will say thx to a lot of guys on this forum who helped me along the way work things out, and even made me few quid you could say.. And I am smarter than a lot of sparks I work with or ccome across. And I do believe 4 years experience is better than 4 years exams but it does gel together.

Christ. I'm well away from the domestic side of our trade now and I am glad of it! This is the reason so many firms who base around domestic are going bump I guess? Are any of you lads struggling because of this type of crap?
I wouldn't say it's affected me directly but I think that's because of the domestic I do, larger projects, but I still do the small jobs as well and do get a bit alarmed when quoting and am told what other electricians have said
typical example is customers being told they need a new CU because lighting doesn't have rcd protection and they are surprised when I explain about rcbo's if they need them at all
i use to blame this on our Eastern European friends but not so sure now

Do you think they teach you how to lift floor boards that have been polished and on full view or even lifting boards under carpet with a desk full of pc equipment on it.

joking aside, if you know how to do this, can you please tell me, I would love to know. Just started doing a bit in houses and to be able to cleanly lift boards without damaging them would be very helpful.

Thanks.

I have an old school nail remover, like a claw with a slide hammer on it. It is like a massive staple remover. Saves damaging the edges of floor boards with crowbars

If you don't want to damage the boards try nail punching the nails through cut the boards along middle of joist with multisaw cut tongue if there is one and bingo board lifts out.OR
Smash the f##k out of it, just make sure it's near heating pipes and blame the plumbers.
