My results from the 14th June were sent out on the 17th August, with a PASS so your results should be available somewhere.

Oh for a 2391 exam! I've been creaming past papers to prepare for the 2394/5 exams, and did the 2395 written last night... OUCH! Think I'll be looking at a retake :(
Think I'll do better tonight with the 2394 now I know how they've restructured the way they ask things, but it was harder than I expected compared to 2391 papers, so if anything they've made it more difficult. On the plus side there are a number of units that come together to make the final result, so not so bad if you cock up in one area, at least you don't have to retake all of it!

...on the other hand it isn't easier if you can now chip away at bits of it instead of having to deal with all of it in one go

Hi I sat 2391 on 22nd June and haven't had result sent thru yet.think it's 46 days now. I have also emailed my training provider last week to see if it was in early.
Any one had a result yet ( hope it was a pass)?

Ive done a course called "Testing & Verification Of Electrical Installations" in Ireland.
It took 5 days, 4 days practical and theory and then a 1 day exam, the qualification is "
City & Guilds Certificate in Electrical Testing and Verification of Electrical Installations. 2407-01"

My question: Is this similar to the 2391 qualification.

Sounds kind of similar mate. Our's is weeks and weeks of theory a bit of practical thrown in for good measure then a 2 hour theory exam (which is a bitch) then a two hour practical involving a full test on a rig which is a 3 ph board with a single ph fed from it. Theory pass mark, no one knows. Practical pass mark 100%, either you get it all right or you fail!

I was wondering if it was any use in the UK but it seems to be just a part of the 2391 and a course made for testing in Ireland only. Same set-up with the tests, 100% for the practical, theory-unknown.

They have just got the city and guilds standard for the course, before that there was no qualification for it.

Interesting to see the chatter on the 2391. When Brian retired the exam got harder as the questions were brought up to date with what is expected of an experienced electrician. Unfortunately first technicians and now approve electricians as a grade is being killed off. Contractors and agencies want electricians (or electrical improvers) with inspection and testing qualifications. It is possible learn how to pass the exam without any real electrical experience. I have seen many who have done so. With the introduction of the 2392 many are accepting it as equivalent to the 2391-10.
The C&G 2407 is a level 2 qualification similar to the 2392. It is not available in the Uk mainland. It is generally taught in countries like the Middle East and the Caribbean. Not forgetting Ireland too.
The introduction of the 2394, 2395 and 2396 is the way to go. But again, I cannot help but feel that Frank Chapple's refusal to endorse a law in the UK similar to what exists for Gas (and for electrical in many other countries killed the profession.
