Looking for a 3 phase board for a customer, older house...ideally something "aesthetically inoffensive"....i.e. something that doesn't look straight off the factory floor...
Thoughts? suggestions?

House is currently using 2 phases of a 3 phase supply into 2 separate meters, phoned the DNO to check there wasn't any reason for this...they were more surprised it hadn't been converted to a single 3 phase meter when the meters were swapped in 2009...Told to then phone supplier, whose technical team confirmed that a 3 phase meter can be fitted (with integral isolator and for free...shock of shocks..)

The DNO connections team reckon PME might be available despite it being an overhead supply, their computer system reckons yes...but requires a site visit to confirm if its possible or not....so they are coming out to do that

Yes!!! Was in a guys house once, showed me the board, no cover, thought Id check the terminals for him on ...everything, main DP Iso were threaded. Yes it was Proteus. He said

"how do I know you didn't do that"

it went downhill from there

front covers are actually an optional extra on the proteus range
the swiss cheese busbar comes as standard though.

:)

I've only seen one proteus locally (thankfully) but a metric ton of those horrid MEM rewireable boards...the ones where the only barrier to live points when the front cover is open to change a fuse is a frequently missing piece of plastic for cartridge fuses that no one ever had fitted seemingly...
and plenty MEM BS3871 boards ( a favourite for council sparks and local builders during the 80s and early 90s....

well you could say the same for the wylex metalclad range from the 70s.....where the 3036s have been replaced with 3871/60898 plug ins....and the cover has been just slung...

yep we can all argue that it meets IP4X.....but come on....

Though the wylex still has a front cover of sorts...the MEM ends up with nada once the front panel is open...utterly crap design and also featuring asbestos pads in the fuses....and they ALWAYS seem to be a rats nest inside with cores cut as short as possible....I REALLY HATE those boards...
I have a severe dislike of MEM
Old contactum pre-17th boards are nearly as bad

If your getting a Hager 3ph board remember the main switch has to be ordered seperatly! Got caught out with that today. Wholesaler never told me that the board comes with no mainswitch when I ordered it. Imagine my dismay today when I went to fit it!!!

Ooops!....yeah I noticed..cheers though mate..
Choice of main incomer depends on what the DNO reckon as to whether they can provide a PME earth or not...

As Biff said, most require the main switch ordering, what i like about the hager is that the main switch comes with a big surround and a big cut out in the front cover that the surround fits into, this means that there are endless incomer options, even down to the fact that their standard board, with surround removed will take a MCCB incomer with no modifications, again really well thought out gear, even down to the blanks that clip on to the din and shroud the bus bars even when the cover is removed, means no struggling to keep the blanks in place while trying to get a 24way TPN (72 way single) cover back on

well....i guess the old wylex boards had an asbestos bypass....did they...

now think carefully before answering....before making yourself look a complete ---....
