Admin Phil is going in to hospital in the morning for a small(ish) heart operation. He is only 40 years old.


I'll pick him up in the morning and take him back home at the end of the day (hopefully) to his wife and two wonderful girls. We have both talked about this for several months, we know that the odds are in his favor but he still feels apprehensive about the procedure. He is a fit and well man, this should be just a procedure but he has complications that may cause other effects. I'm confident but I also have my fingers crossed.



Phil, I am honored that you asked me to be by your side in your time of need. And I wont even take the Mick out of you when your recovering (much).

Glad to hear you came through OK mate,my brother had supra ventricular tachycardia and we lost him aged 30,unfortunately they didn't,t have the technology back then and due to a bout of depression he stopped taking his meds and we lost him.Whatever happens if you are on meds please remember to take them.all the. Very best mate,I hope you get sorted and live to a ripe old age.

Thanks Phil and sorry to hear about your brother mate. SVT is not the best thing to put up with at times. I feel run down and knackered with it at the moment and the episodes are getting more and more frequent. It is always interesting when up a ladder or under a floor when one comes on the betablockers are ok but they don`t seem to agree with me, I feel more tired and irritable which might just be grumpy man syndrome if you ask the other half definitely going back for a second try at the ablation though. Typically I had been having episodes all week leading up to Fridays procedure and as soon as i left the dept they started again typical. the consultant and the team at the hospital were second to none and they really did throw every drug possible at me to try start the svt off when i was in the lab. I honestly though it would have been a lot more uncomfortable than it was though. Although looking at a screen seeing cables inside your heart is a little strange when lying on a bed. sort of feels a little strange when they are pushing them up too. not a ck fish tape in sight and he still managed the cable run fairly well so hats off to him

I know what you mean with that one had an angioigram a few years back and it felt really strange at times when they moved the catheter from my groin up to and into my heart.

Sorry to hear the procedure wasn't a success hope the doctors can sort your problem and you get better soon it's not good when you don't feel well

With the amount doctors get paid I think I,all dig my stethoscope out and start moonlighting as a doctor.

On one of these medical programs recently they showed a builder who was being trained to do carpel tunnel surgery so anything is possible

being a GP is a piece of pee
if its green - dish out some pennicillin
no idea and not in the symptoms book - come back later in the week
bones sticking out - send them to hospital
etc....

Progress is slow but as they keep telling children now lack of success does not mean failure!
Be as well as you can be for the time being, as best you can, and all best wishes for the follow up procedure working like a dream.
Now you know what it is like there will be no worries next time and I wish for it to go well.
