Hi i'm looking for some advice, i have been to look at a job to wire a garage. In the garage will be 3 double sockets and 3 lights. What my idea was is to run a 6mm 3core swa from a non rcd protected way on 40amp mcb to 40amp rcd double switch in a 2way garage unit which will be feeding a 20amp radail and 6amp lighting circuit. The length of the swa will be approx 22m run under the floor cavity and out to garage.

Richard, thank you so much for your very kind and informative reply to my, in hindsight, rather amateurish sounding initial post. I am very grateful for your input and feel I might just be able to complete the job now. I apologise that my mother didn't really teach me many manners. Yours gratefully, 321 (bang).

That's way out on the raggedly line, who's Richard?

Thanks for help guys

It's good to learn and refresh your memory.

Seriously though, if you are doing work for someone then @Murdoch questions in Post #15 are very valid:
Do you have Pl insurance?
Scheme membership?
Calibrated test equipment?

As you know, you will have to supply a test cert for this work.

OP if your still listening and apology’s if another poster has already suggested this; why not get a Electrician to review what you want to do, confirm cable type / sizes etc and return in a week or two to test and sign-off. This way you get the satisfaction of saving a few quid and reassurance the jobs been done right.

I see you are doing a CYA text below your name @Leyland30 :tearsofjoy:

Hi yes sounds good
The only thing is if the supply is PME then the regs say you should not import an earth therefore you should use an earth stake outside the garage i don't understand why but it is a reg.

Do you have a Reg number? or are you quoting a fictitious NICEIC reg?
