Hi Y'all,

I've just stumbled across your forum. (I'm enjoying all the pictures of the nightmare installs etc). I wonder if anyone can help me please?

My power shower has just stopped working this morning. When pressing the power button I get nothing from the unit. No power light or sounds of life. There is a light on to the isolator switch outside the bathroom.

I checked the voltage going into the power shower and it's only 75 volts! What can cause this? (We had a new consumer unit fitted about two weeks ago).

Thanks in Advance.

Not been able to get onto this DIY task at the moment - at the mother in law's place. Her double glazed front door blew off it's hinges. How the hell that happened I don't know! At least it's water tight and I'm fed. Have picked up a 50A pull cord on the way over here so hopefully I'll just be able to swap it out. Will get onto the shower later this evening. Will report back.

edit: P.S. no fish smell. I'll ask the wife if she smelt any this morning when she discovered it wasn't working ... man that sounds wrong. ;-)

Cheers.

All Sorted! Thanks very much everyone. I opened up the old pull cord unit and it smelt of fish. I asked the wife if she had smelt fish and she said "oh yes - for a couple of days - I thought my sister had dropped some of her fish and chips under the fridge". I could see scorch marks on the LOAD side of the switch and the Neutral load terminal connection had burnt and cracked. I swapped the unit and all sorted now.

Once again - thanks very much everyone on here.
