hello, got a job needs a supply outside to a log cabin for a hot tub, two socket outlets and one light.

what i was thinking of doing was running 10mm 3 core armoured.

i was goin to install a ccu next to original with a 30ma rdc. split the tails, henley block.

run the armoured 600mm underground 15m max, and once in the log cabin gland off and put another 3 way consumer unit again with 30mA protection.

then in t&e 1.5 wire a swich and light

in 2.5 t&e put two sockets in.

and off the same board wire in the hot tub.

will 10mm 3 core armoured over 15m be ok?

Read the page again. Unless you are installing 3 phase I think you will find i am right!!!!!!

I'm half way through the job, because it's not the norm for me, I ask and over ask, I understand the concept of why so it's not as though I ask and then don't understand, because it's a special location, ie everyone will be sitting I'n a tub of water, it's my best interest to take advice from more experienced electricians such as your self, and I will be sure to thank you hawk81. Every aspect of the job will be 100% that's why I ask even the silliest of things, if I bring it all uP now and look a fool once, I'll know forever, and that's what I want! I have ip lights, ip switch, ip socket still to install from the fusebox I'n log cabin, which I mite add is >2m away and up high! Question, can I simply run t&e now for lights and one socket and isolator from my board? All clipped direct?

My ip sockets and switch have grommets also, so I can cut them perfectly to size on entry of cable!

Yes you can use twin and earth clipped direct. I would use stuffing glands in the swithes and sockets.

I think i maybe missing something here.... Is your PME system bonding requirments 10 or 16mm?? If 16mm then go with the 6mm XLPE SWA, and run a separate 16mm bonding cable back to the MET.

is this not bad practice? running seperate earth?

put 2way board under stairs next to the house ccu, spit tails and henley blocked, FIFTY AMP breaker, and punched through side of house, (made sure to angle the hole as to stop water coming back through the hole) just for piece of mind, run round house low level then up the garden via the fence, so cleated all the way, done very smartly too.

once in log cabin, mounted the secondry fuseboard, (4way with the 30mA RCD protection) put armoured straight to board.

wired in x2 ip lights and switch. 6a 60898 1.5 t&e

double socket (ip rated) 16a 60898 2.5 t&e

isolator switch below ccu for hot tub, then glanded 6mm to it ready for final connection as the hot tub supplier insists they do it! 32a 60898 6mm t&e then out of isolator armoured.

CCU i installed 2meters away, and the socket outlet, lights, and isolator!

from house MET, run 16mm to primary board, then used, the 10mm core in the armoured as earth from board to board.
