Hi all,
Thanks for all your replies! I didn't realise I would get so many, I only posted this yesterday morning and only just checked my emails.
I will try and answer some of your questions:
I did not do any of the work (I am not an electrician), the cooker electrical cable, socket above hob, socket in cupboard, socket on far right and the connection to the boiler were all done before I brought the house a few months back. All the laying of new cables in the walls has been done an electrician I have asked to the work. I have not paid him any money at the moment and just wanted your opinions on whether it was correct / safe or not.
Yes, the diagram is mine. I just thought it would be easier for you guys to understand the setup if I posted this too.
The white cable on the hob is just the off cut from the extractor cable and going in the bin.
I think there will be "4 sets of cables in each termination in the twin outlet under the worktop". This has not been connected yet.
The hob is plugged in the socket in the cupboard and originally the washing machine (not shown in the diagram).
No the electrician was not the cheapest quote, but he seemed reliable, genuine and said he could do the job that week!
I haven't received the certificate as the work is not 100% complete yet. Although he says it done! He tells me there are some minor faults in the bedroom above the kitchen and the left socket / extractor are not wired into the socket under in the cupboard.
The electrician has a JIB card qualified as "Completed Apprenticeship NVQ Level 3" in date. Has got another electrician he knows who is supposedly fully qualified to do the checks / certificates etc.
I'm unsure whether the cable coming in from the ceiling connects to another sockets, this is why I wrote this on the diagram. Through it may be relevant.
Here is an image showing the consumer box with RCD's (hopefully I got that right!).
My questions are:
1. Can I leave the cooker cable as it is with the isolation switch above the hob and pass the landlord certificate? It was like this when I brought the house with the double socket over the hob too (we have asked this to be capped).
2. Can the sockets circuit be left as it is or does it need additional work on it? If so, what needs doing (In plane English if possible please)? I don't mind spending a little more, but I do not want to have to rewired the whole kitchen. Really I just want it to be safe for my tenants and pass the landlord certificate.
Thanks for all your help
