Anyone used any of these in the last 20 years?? we used to call then twistits. they were usually made of porcelain or later plastic. They seemed to work OK but made separating the wires for testing/fault finding a bit of a pain when the conductors snapped. One thing I would like to know is are they classed as a maintenance free joint i.e put them in a suitable enclosure and bury then under the floor boards??
Reason I ask is there is a advert in the latest connections mag

IDEAL INDUSTRIES - Wire Connectors

They would need to be marked 'MF' Never used them but the yanks use a lot of them I believe

Don't think they are maintenance free as when you here about them being used in North America, they are always put into accessible boxes

mmmm.... Not convinced..... Got some porcelain ones I removed from an installation about 6 months ago....
Someone had extended a ring in a warehouse with the < 5 years ago....
God know where they got them from...

Absolutely correct they hold water, shrouds are totally unnecessary. 20s is 24mm spanner, 20 large is 30mm spanner.
