Hi guys /girls can you run armoured cable straight into c/unit or does it have to go into Henley block and then run tails from that ?

Ok everyone has plenty to say but no one has said the correct way

Lammy I'm sure if I saw the installation I would come up with the correct way in minutes. Anyway I can't see it and you haven't posted any pictures so I'm out of here :waving:

PS I think the correct way in your case is to employ the services of a competent spark.

If you were familiar with henleys you would know that it's impossible, terminating them directly into a CU is a better way but it's easy to get wrong.
In a nutshell the cable has to be securely supported so that the cleats are taking the weight of it, then it needs to be properly glanded with a fly lead from the banjo to the earth terminal.

Post some pics. Pics say a thousand words. It is impossible to terminate an SWA cable into a henley block CORRECTLY.

You have now connected a pretty hefty SWA into a plastic db. We are worried about a couple of things...

The correct supporting of the SWA as it enters plastic DB as it is not a particularly sturdy material.
Have you correctly terminated the SWA gland to continue the earthing of the armour in the cable. Plastic does not conduct.

The colours used doesnot particularly matter as long as they are identified with sleeving and same colours used for different conductors at both ends.

Just a gromit trev
