Hi all as I previously posted I cancelled my niceic application and applied for napit so Tuesday is tge day of my assessment. My main work is new build installations oppose to alot of testing, I did my 2392 which was very breif.......so I need to refresh myself on the zs, I understand how to take it and maxium zs for size of breaker etc, the 80% rule. But what else is the zs result used for? Also say I get a reading on a tt system of 5.4 I understand a 100ma rcd to stop nuisance tripping.....as you can see I need a bit of guidance on this!

Tony mc.....no I am not doing PIRs yet, i am posting comments from a iPhone so it's not that easy to set it out....there is a no after that pir comment meaning that I am not competent on them yet plus havnt got the 250k pi insurance for it.CheersPhil

Does your iPhone have the ability to add punctuation? Using it would help us undertand what you mean. When I went to school, many, many, years before you, punctuation and use of it, was a core skill we were taught.

this part of your original question is not worded well and makes little sense which is why you recieved the replys you did - try to be a bit more clear and give a fuller explanation in future.

it is commendable that you are on the right track and heading in the correct direction, and will probably need a lot of help/advise in the next few months, being more clear on the advise you require will yield much better results from some very experienced members of this forum - bit like having your own yodas to call on when stuck.
agrre with that ezzy, was not all that clear at first, but after taking my medication ( marston's owd rodger)it didn't matter anymore, all was crystal.

As you can catch the drift round here, these fellas do want to help you friend but they don't like having to guess what you're asking and worse, you being a bit touchy (or defensive) in the midst of it all. You have nothing to prove here, we all had to start somewhere, including some of the biggest geeks answering all sorts or technical questions. My advice would be, without sounding daunting, is to make a fresh post here (or perhaps a new thread) what it is that you would like help with or talking over to boost your confidence. I would say start with the following:

Type of system you're dealing with (TN-S, TN-C-S, TT)?

The works you've carried out for the assessment?

What kind of protective devices used for the circuits etc?

Before posting please proof read your text and I am sure you will get a valuable answers and confidence boosters.

All the best with the assessment.

I'll be honest here, the op posts a garbled, poorly written query regarding a supply system that a competent electrician should understand.

A respected, helpful member like Malcolm posts a reply, in essence, asking for clarity on the original post, he is then told by the op that he is 'asking a stupid question'.

This forum isn't a free helpline, helpful posters are giving up THEIR free time to share knowledge and experience so maybe a bit of respect should be given?
