Discuss Bare CPC's in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thanks eng, the reason I ask is that I remember when I moved into my house none of the cpcs were sleeved. They were all twisted together and terminated. But the wiring didn't seem as old as that, so methinks maybe someone just didn't bother!

Yes theres been quite a few accidents involving electrical fires within the last couple of years, so they have sent out 60 of us to inspect and test every single camp to our regulations, seen as theirs are basically to cock haha. The americans hate us :) the original question was based on CPC's, earth electrode conductors etc etc, weather it be in panels or not, we have to fault everything to BS and it is then mitigated by them at their discression. Waste of time if you ask me but ÂŁ's good !!! lol

My guess is that the fires were caused by a combination of using American type MCB's, with there usual wide time current characteristics and the perpetual use of ''wire-nuts'' jammed into every accessory back box. When you couple those two elements together in timber framed portable cabin type buildings your asking for trouble. When you then add to the equation, the general lack of final electrical installation testing, you start to understand why there are so many electrical fires in the states, as more than 85% of all there buildings are timber based!!! lol!!

Sometime in the 70's i think, if were talking about final circuit CPC sleeving... Others here may have a more precise date...lol!!

Here you go E54 and kingeri, 1977 or just after, actually Iam suprised it was this late.

This is quite a useful guide for judging the age of installations, I cannot remember where I got this, it may have been from someone on here, but thanks go to whoever it was.
