So screwdriver and hammer not an option then?
I dont like to look at a row of locknuts, that have a dent in side where they have been bashed with hammer and screwdriver

Damaging the nut would't even cross my mind.
Stop inspecting my installs then.I dont like to look at a row of locknuts, that have a dent in side where they have been bashed with hammer and screwdriver

Wouldn't doing the job, without damaging anything be preferable.

Don't think he actually meant damage more like mark the nut.
If a nut had a mark on it I wouldn't be rushing back down the wholesalers and buying a new one undoing the SWA and spending another 20 mins or so replacing it.
Neither would anyone else, but if I saw that my tools always "marked" the nut, I would buy a new spanner.
just a little more time to do the job properly, and no marks on the glands or locknuts IMO
