Same as mate but the wife won't wear it :( I done a tour when single many moons ago, started in LA then drove up the Coastal Rd through Big Sir etc to Frisco, then through Yosemite to Vegas and back to LA. One of the best trips I've had. Alcatraz was a sight and quite ere walking around but def worth a visit. Never been to Miami but just usual Disney stuff down that way. NY was good, very lively.

I'm hoping to take the kids abroad next summer, so we will make do with a last minute break somewhere this year. Anywhere would be good really.......................even a plodge in the Tyne!!!

You people get paid too much...
I would love to take the family to Disney World but cant afford it at the mo.... Its Center Parcs for us this year..

It's been A few years since I was in sf.nice city. Full of mentalists though.
There was a restored liberty ship and submarine down by one of the piers that is worth a look from ww2 got talking to an old lad from London who was on the committee and they sail the boat out now and again in the bay.
or go up the Castro and get cruised by gentlemen good with colours....I must have been looking buff that day, the wife pished herself laughing.

Like thats a cheap holiday - NOT!

Come on Murdoch, we are not staying in one of the 'tree houses' I guy at work goes each year and stays in one, with 3 other families. Cost about 2.5 grand. Ours is a bottom range one. Its not that expensive as we only have to pay for the activities the seven year old lad wants to do. Most of the time he just wants to go swimming, which is free.

We've been many times over the years, always for weekend breaks, free swiming and the kids get 1 activity paid for!

Kinda sums up my previous post.

If you want something completely different, that caters for just about everyone, young and older alike, i'd strongly recommend you visit China. Laugh you might, but it is a location that will be mainstream in the not too distant future...

One thing i can guarantee, you will have never seen landscapes of the like you can see in China absolutely breathtaking. The place is steeped in history, with far too many many sights to see, number one must see being the Great Wall of China. The coastal resorts have some of the best kept beaches i've ever seen. But remember the country is VAST, and virtually every region is different!! Travel within the country is cheap, either by bullet train or air travel, food is always cheap and accommodation is still cheap. Night clubs and Disco's galore for the younger among you, and comfortable western type lounge bars etc for those that are past the nightclub era in life!! lol! English (or should i say Chinglish) is more widespread, especially in the hotels etc and getting better all the time.

Go there with one change of clothes and buy the rest while you're there, you'll be amazed how little they cost (and good quality too).

If however you're more interested in a more relaxing exotic beach holiday with nightlife, then Penang in Malaysia is the place to go (English spoken everywhere!)... lol!!

Portugal's Silver Coast is quite relaxing, although I generally have to go with the mother-in-law seeing as its her place. Where she is has a beach 2mins down the road with a little village square and a couple of bars etc, pool in the gated complex and great weather most of the time. Generally all locals with limited English but they communicate well, a few phases are easy to pick up so you can get by :) will be going back next year with another family, good times ahead :)
