Discuss Bonding of services in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Whoa I didn't realise a few of you were so intent on slapping people down on here. I assumed this forum was for people find seeking answers and a bit of extra knowledge. Instead I find that amongst those of you who are genuinely helpful and glad to impart your hard earned wisdom, there are also those of you who think it's clever and funny to belittle people who don't have the time served experience and are starting careers later in life. Bottom line is that I aim to be a competent safe electrician, but I need help to do so.

Yes I know what an extraneous conductive part is.

No I can't pull apart a property that has just had an 80k refurbishment to cross bond everything.

Yes the boiler is bonded.

There is NO COPPER to bond to within 600mm of the stopcock.

I'm aware of the purpose of the aidiabatic equation, I just didn't know if it could be applied to this situation - now I know it can't.

I am aware some questions I ask may be basic knowledge to most if you, but I would rather ask - and not guess- than plough ahead blind.

I was under the impression the only stupid questions were the ones not asked, thanks for proving me wrong.

And thanks to those who put genuinely helpful answers to my question, and for those who can't apply constructive criticism, don't post at all. It's not that I'm a little girl that can't take criticism, but I am a grown up who doesn't appreciate being spoken to like a child.

And if you want to use my post to banter, exchange e-mails and do it on your own time.

Cheers

Thanks for banging my point home with a hammer mate.

A tad of an over reaction.

There are loads of well clued up sparkies here with decades of experience - plus loads more of us who are willing to try and help. Looking back at some of your posts it would seem that you are at an early stage of your career and would benefit from the help here, today and in the future - but be warned that you may leave yourself open to a ribbing from time to time and in such cases take it on the chin.

Yes mate early stages. Genuinely no problem taking a bit of ribbing and **** taking, but I do know the difference between banter and being taking for an assumed idiot. Like I say, this forum has been fantastic in general, like an electricians Wikipedia! So again, I genuinely thank people who are on here to help.
