Job I'm on at moment they using basket, tray and trunking... They using a bit of every thing throughout a cable runs ie jumping from tray to basket then into trunking. None of it actually joining do the have to bond the containment even tho not joined. Cable type used is yy.

there is no ladder , its all tray.
all exposed metalwork is earthed.

you still havent posted pics of your own work to show us all how its done instead you obviously prefer to hide behind a few pathetic critisizing posts.
come back when you can bring something of substance to the table.
needs more tie wraps ? lol is that all youve got ?
you put the pics on thinking its the mutts nuts.
im not putting pics on leaving myself open to criticism.
jobs like this are easy to get right and look good, shinning tray and unistrut in a nice church.
god will not be happy with you!

i put the pics up to highlight the point i made of installing fully connected containment without having to use loads of seperate earthing links.
my work is far from perfect but none the less im proud of what i accomplished on that particular project.

of course you wont , instead you'd rather just criticise the work uploaded by others like a complete hypocrite whilst providing absolute nothing of value to the thread.

you sound like some sort of Electrical Trainee / house basher.
:-)

dont mean to add insult to injury but u shouldnt have tyraps on the outer flange of tray, they will be subject to damage and leave any cables with even less support.

If those tyraps on the outer flange are going to be subject to damage then I would argue that tray shouldn't have been used in the first place. The very fact that tray has been used by a competent electrician says to me that an assessment of any specific areas that cables were to be routed was carried out to ascertain whether those areas will ever be prone to mechanical damage and the result of that assessment was 'no'. That's my two cents anyway.

i would personally it this type of environment gone for light duty grey pvc cable tray, its easlier to install, quicker and looks better but just for the appearance aspect you should not see tyraps on the outer edge.
if people are going to get upset by criticism dont post pics or do a better job.

Plastic cable tray ? - that's a new one. Have you got any examples of this as I'd be curious to see it.

As for tie wraps it generally looks good, however, I gather that there is a requirement or part of a wish list from the fire brigade that metal tie wraps should be used where there is no earthed containment. I believe there is also additions to this wish list that plastic trunking is dangerous, particularly when heated up in a fire as it melts and drips smoking PVC all over their new outfits......

If this is an FES job there will be more chance off you wining the lottery than a Clampit earthing tray and trunking or using a file.

I have seen plastic trunking many times and never seen a neat job done of it yet.
I have never seen plastic tray and never even heard of it,the thing with plastic tray would be the lack of strength which would mean it would sag quite a bit with any weight on it and would need many more supports than metal tray.

Plastic always gets brittle with age and heat and would not last long for tray unlike metal tray which if installed correctly can be in use for many decades.

The job I have just came off in Korea was all black fiberglass ladder and tray. Looks the part!
