Brick repairs

[Doomed]

Got a customer going off on one because when drilling through to the outside on two of several holes the red brick laminated.
She wants it made good.
Sand cement is a no no as its 'the wrong colour'
The boss has lost it with her and has said to me 'sort it'.
Suggestions please.

Not sure what you mean by laminated. If damage is only on the surface and not right through the brick, perhaps you can remove the brick and refit it the other way round, with the good inside facing out?

Or remove a good brick from the other side of the house to replace it - she might not notice until you're gone and she's paid you for the job

Some bricks are a nitemare to drill, no matter how much care you take some of them just blow, only thing you can do if it'd that bad is as ringer says, chop it out and stick another one back in

shallow crator on the exit side on the outside of the house, not completely covered by the conduit junction box. Now with hole and 2 lots of 2.5 through it, so replacement is not a possibility.

Put a bigger box on it? Do you still have the exit wound could you not put a load of clear silicon on it and stick it back in behind your box?

Ah, well if you've got conduit running through the brick then it might be a bit difficult to remove it without taking the whole job apart. Do you have a photo of the damaged brick?

Id fill it with sillicone or cement and try and match the colour with one of those sample paint pots. dont Some paint shops match any colour if you bring them a picture?

Tried that, too many bits, poor quality cheap brick.

I've tried painting over silicone and it's not easy. I would avoid silicone at all costs. We usually use a small, brushed finished, stainless steel plate to cover damage like this but again you'd need to remove cables and conduit and reinstall after the repair.

Drill or grind a brick that is a near colour match, save the dust and mix it in with your compo. If you still have the shattered remains engineer them to shape and stick them in with neat Unibond.

The worst is its only a small job, the boss could afford to right it off and walk away, but he won't - the way things are going it will cost him more for me to fix it then the bill that is being withheld.

Damage all the other bricks quickly when she's out, to match the damaged brick.

She wont notice if all the same.
