This is what my assessor has told me!

He states that the BS3036 does not meet the 0.4s disconnection times and cannot be used for any new work.

I do not have a BRB so cannot see the disconnection times for a 3036.

Surely he is wrong? He is suggesting that we have to change the 3036 if we want to carry out any work.

Bit cross... I did not like him at all.. different bloke to last time!

.....

sorry, I do have the disconnection times for 3036 in the BGB...but surely it's dependent on the Zs?

Anyway, back in the real world.
Steve, ask him to come on here and post his opinions so we can debate the issue.

Well... Here is an update!

Thanks to Anthoney S (see post 8) I got a contact number for the manager of the CPS scheme at Stroma. Anthoney wrote to them after seeing this thread and asked if it was the policy of Stroma to advise all BS3036 boards are replaced and that you cannot add new circuits to them. Stroma responded that this was not the case.

I have spoken directly to the manager and he has assured me that Stroma certainly do not have a policy of advising all BS3036 boards are replaced! As I haven't mentioned the name of the assessor (which I think it would be unprofessional to do) I can also add that the assessor now states he said no such thing about 'ripping out all BS3036' boards. However as it was put down in red pen on the 'non conformity' letter that I would be prepared to add a new circuit to a BS3036 and that this was not acceptable I'm happy that my word will be taken as the truth.

Obviously a bit frustrated at this, but I must say that the manager of the CPS scheme at Stroma seems professional, capable and fair. As for this one assessor (the previous one being extremely capable, professional, firm and fair!) I shall again remain professional and not comment, but I'd like to!!

Geordie????? Are you sure?????
That sounds like the age old "Mackham" tongue does that!!

Jay

It's NOT "Mackham" - it's "Mackem" and it comes from the Wearside shipyards.

Folks from Sunderland (and parts thereabouts) say Mak when they mean Make and Tak when they mean Take so when the customer arrives at the shipyard and asks for them to make him a ship their reply is (or was) "We mackem and ye takem" (we make them and you take them)

That is the gospel truth and your education is now complete.
