I am carrying out a major re-wire on a farmhouse which is also having a substantial extension. Can I run the t & e cables for the socket outlets on top of the concrete subfloor - they will be protected by the kingspan insulation from the floor screed when it is poured and as they are in contact with the ground directly should not be a problem with heat.

First you need to your cable calc's with regards to thermal effect , then consider using conduit, I would never screed over unprotected T & E

Why not run them in conduit directly on the concrete floor membrane
When they are inbedded in the concrete there will be plenty of protection and an air gap through the pipework

whenever ive put t+e under concrete to get to kitchen islands or for in floor lighting etc ive put it either in conduit or trunking be swayed more towards the trunking as its bigger and helps with thermal effects etc for your cable calcs

I use Kopex much better for laying around the perimeter of the room and around corners. I cut the Kopex to length and then pre wire it, then usually use raw plug cable tie eyelets and then cable tie the Kopex to the concrete sub-base and then the builder screeds over it.

Lovely bit of conduit there Pennywise, did you do the bends with a spring or buy pre fabricated ones? What is the long rectangular thing in the middle of the wall?

Spirit level i reckon, i've heard about them but never seen one in real life.
its up there with them fancy dustpan and brushes you can get (google it if your not sure);)

Spring it's far cheaper, and the bit in the middle is 2 by 2 trunking for the plasma screens cables.
