The batteries are in series so say you have six AA's, you have 9v. The current output of the tester @500v is low, probably wrong but from memory somewhere like 30mA or maybe 200mA.
It's been ages since I have read up on theory of testers, from memory they run on DC because AC causes reactance, due to capacitance or inductance..Still a nasty --- winder tho lol

Would a description of a shock not have done the job?my wife wanted to know what a shock felt like once so i gave her a quick zap and she just about killed me....lol I then told her that was nothing like the real thing and got thumped again....lol
you reckon if i were to stick some electronic wizardry in my consumer unit, id be able to run my house on 6 AAA's? :crazy:
