A quick zap with the 500v IR tester isn't too bad, but what happens if you get yourself with the RCD test?

150mA is more than enough to kill you, should I be worried about accidentally RCD testing myself?!

Can a multimeter kill you well look at it this way its a bit like a gun it does not kill you its the idiot who pulls the trigger who does that.

As for electric shocks again depending what yor condition is what type of shock ie a tingle or a belt plus electricity is a funny old thing you can get a good belt then laugh it off in the pub then later then drop down because your heart was put out of sync and you think its the adrenilin when actually your heart is fighting to stay alive.

Out of interest can I ask why you need to ask a question like this electricity is and will always be dangerous plus the kicker is that it kills.

Lol,
I've never known it, personally. However, there was this chap who managed to expand a Fluke multimeter by twice its size by attempting to measure voltage when the range was set to current. Obviously no internal fuses and no warning. It did make him jump backwards. Since he was working in the print industry with fast moving conveyors, it could have been more than just an emotional shock.
But then,
I once experienced something similar, a long time ago, with a Robin Loop tester set to measure loop impedance, but not across two phases. That too changed shape rather quickly....
