Can’t access connection of main bond to water pipe due to being (I assume under hardwood flooring) have confirmed continuity by disconnecting the 10mm at Met clamping on and testing with wander lead to copper pipe where it enters out of kitchen floor, but I can’t confirm the condition of the clamp, how would I record this on EIC? Or is just confirming continuity sufficient?
Incidentally the gas meter is at the top of a wall in the middle of the house, can visually see that clamp...

If I can't see the pipe connection I think I can still make a good estimate of its condition. Dis all parallel paths, take a reading with Wander as near as you can to where you think the clamp is located. Calculate the possible bonding cable length from 1.83 mOhms per metre (for 10mm) and compare to an estimated cable run from the board (looks like 15m to me Sarge). I then have 3 things - I know it's connected, it's of reasonable low value and it follows an expected path. I think that's enough for work to proceed (?).
Hi wilko
Thanks for that,I am edging towards that, will ring scam tomorrow for they opinion, to be honest the whole area the pipe is under us no more than 12 metres long and the Cu is in the middle so the bond can only be 6-8 mtrs....

Hi Anthony
Only place the stop cock can be is under the floor,I’ve just redone the kitchen and bathroom and it’s not in either of them, not unusual in the old housing stock down here, it’s quite the norm to just use the mains stop outside to turn off the water, no upstairs water only 2 bedrooms up there, so the first sign of any water pipe is where it exists from the kitchen floor in 15 mm copper goes up to the boiler then the washing machine then the cold tap and onto the bathroom.
This is where I tested to with my wander lead and confirmed that one 10mm was connected somewhere to that pipe run (but due to the oak flooring I can’t visually access the clamp) and 1 went to the gas pipe, hope that makes sense? It is a tiny house.

Ive a feeling an assessor would insist on a new bonding wire.. although continuity may be there it could be hanging off. I had to run a new TT earth cable to the met on my very first assessment by elecsa because altho there was continuity, the rod must have been built over by the back conservatory!

Problem is i can’t access the water pipe anywhere except where is comes up out the kitchen floor in 15mm and that wouldn’t meet regs anyway as it would be about 8 metres from where (I assume) the mains enters the building..

but the regs clearly state as near as practicable to the point of entry, so, even though is about 8m, that is the nearest point,

We are Part P but do little domestic work but we still need it. Have sorted a house for them to visit, replaced consumer unit, rewired a large garage etc.. Water is bonded even though plastic service pipe, heating is by oil which is in a plastic tank in the garage, raised on bricks and all pipework is insulated but does go underground. I admit I never tested this oil service to see if it needs bonding as it does not. But faced with a debate with the assessor as to whether it does or not and two days debate with myself I have extended the water bond which was conveniently in the garage:D

I’ve had to do stuff like this on new builds to get a meter connection. Won’t connect as no water bond....incoming main is plastic as is the rest of the installation apart from the tails that come out the stud walls and a section above the stopcock. I wasn’t onsite at the time and the idiot meter installer went and told the site manager that he can’t connect the 10 new houses as no water bond making, me look like I don’t know what I’m up to...... connections got cancelled so the next day I went back to site, chucked a bonding clamp on in each house with a meter of 10mm shoved in the wall. Prat comes back, connects them up, once he’s gone I remove the bonding clamps and pull the 10mm out and jobs a goodun.
